Today, we finally got time to replace Flo's old peach tree in the backyard that didn't survive the last season. After losing Bruno in November, we decided we would bury him there, and plant a dogwood tree. But, as schedules would have it, it took us awhile. Flo was in Tennessee today, so we put her on a video conference to watch us wrestle getting the tree in the hole, and then saying a few nice words to remember our old buddy. This space feels a little more sacred now. Now, we just have to keep Pax from eating the tree. Long ago, Bruno completely destroyed one of two expensive trees we had just planted. Ahh... the circle of life.

Five Lives Remembered was actually the first book Dolores ever wrote, despite only being first published in 2009. It chronicles and describes how she and her husband Johnny were first introduced to past life regression and reincarnation when they were asked by a Navy doctor to try and help relax one of his patients using hypnosis in 1968. During the session, the young woman began describing a life she lived in the roaring 1920âs in Chicago as a flapper in a gang. Completely taken aback, Dolores and Johnny decided to explore this strange occurrence as far as possible. They were able to take the woman back to 5 previous lifetimes all the way to the point where she was created by God. This introduction to past lives occurred at a time when reincarnation, past live regression and the New Age were virtually unknown terms to the general population. It began so innocently, yet crossed the boundaries of the imagination to open up an entirely new way of thinking at a time when there was simply no literature to guide and support them. This photo is dedicated to Rachel Scott and her friends, who lost their lives at Columbine High on April 20, 1999, as well as to all of the Christian martyrs around the world who have died for their faith.
The book about Rachel's life is touching and encouraging; I highly recommend it if you're a Christian, and even if you're not, you might like it. It's called Rachel's Tears, by Beth Nimmo and Darrell Scott.

You were the most kind and gentle man I have ever known. I never heard you raise your voice and I never saw you angry. You were a man of few words. Everything under your care was treated with dignity and respect….from the creatures on your farm…serving a purpose…to the grandchildren…like me who only knew that you loved them and would protect them from harm.
These days, as I get older, I find that on a daily basis I retreat back to the house and fields of your farm. I know that this is because these places are now sacred to me…the places that I would feel most content. With your passing…so passed those wonderful places. I now hold these in my memory…in my heart…a refuge from daily stresses of life….
Maybe I will find that just past the gates of heaven along with you…and My Momma…will also be that wonderful place you called home…..a place that to me is Heaven….

We went to our favourite diner car diner at the end of our "Remember our merica holiday" and we had a bowl of chilli.

Chiefs captain creates scholarship in honour of Grant Sheridan
Myles Mattila is wearing the ‘C’ as the leader of the Kelowna Chiefs this year.
Off the ice, he’s been an exemplary leader in many facets of life for some time and he’s back at it again with a newly-created scholarship.
The Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship honours Grant Sheridan, the former owner of the Chiefs who passed away this summer, and it’ll be available to all KIJHL players.

It’s been created through the MindRight for Athletes Society, another creation of Mattila, and will recognize a player for their hockey commitment, community involvement and academic achievement.
The scholarship will be initiated during the Chiefs’ home opener at Rutland Arena on Friday night and more details about it will become available as the season goes on.
“It is with heavy hearts the Kelowna Chiefs will be playing our home opener in memory of Grant. There will not be a dry eye in the house,” says Mattila.
“Grant was a very special person who will be dearly missed by all. Grant and I had very similar fundamental beliefs in the core values of hockey, education, and community involvement, which included mental health.”
Sheridan presented Mattila with the team’s Scholastic Player of the Year award after the 2017-18 season.
