In memory of David Lett, who died Thursday. Its a big loss and all of us who work here in the industry or enjoy the wines, owe him for bringing Pinot Noir vines to Oregon against the advice of California winemakers 40 years ago. It was thought to be too wet and cold, but it has found its way to being some of the best in the world. His son Jason Lett took over winemaking for Eyrie vineyards several years ago and continues to make great Oregon Pinot Noir.

Each year there is a large display on Midsummer Common in Cambridge. It didn't feel like there was as many as normal there, but it was still very busy.

I managed to find a place near some other photographers so my tripod didn't stand out too much.

First time I've taken shots of fireworks. It seems to be that pot luck plays a big factor! ;)

"all i want to do is spend some time with you, so i can hold you. RIP chris bell, bigstar."

Meditation by Louis Schwartz:

"As Hillel taught, the things we do for the dead are the greatest of good deeds, because we do them for those from whom we have no expectation of reward (or even a response). And what can we do for them but remember them?

(even if that don't get him back again)"

4 Years ago on this day, Steven Paul Jobs passed away. He was a man that changed the world, technology and inspired all of us. He changed how I think of life. He told us all how to Think Different. Life showed us how unfair it is by making him leaving so early. I will always miss you Steve.. You are my true inspiration. YOU CHANGED my Life.

RIP Steve Jobs

Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful, that's what matters to me.

Remembering Steve for who he was and what he stood for, “Most people never ask. That’s what separates the people that do things from the people that just dream about them.”

Finally remembered that my camera had a video setting, so tried it out on this Kingfisher

This week's theme on MAMMA www.flickr.com/groups/815984@N23/ is 'Rememberance'.

This is a photo of my husband's uncle Albert who was one of the lucky ones and came home after the war. The inscription is a copy from the back of the photo and is dated June 1943.

I could look in his eyes all day:) This picture is so cute.

In 1984 after the Pepsi fire incident, I saw Michael Jackson at a 7-11 with Emmanuel Lewis. They were leaving as I was coming in. Michael held the door for me, he still had bandages on his head. I was too stunned to even say thank you. I will always remember that moment. Thanks Michael!

JKonig inspired me to write a little bit about the day.

has it really been six years? it feels like it was just the other day . . . and a lifetime ago.

on 9/11/01, i had just moved back to the u.s. from japan. i was still in a bit of a culture shock daze. i had just started a new job and remember everyone freaking out and crowding around their radios. i was stuck in a back room and couldn't really listen to much. i felt so anxious. it was also my brother's 21st birthday. my parents were driving down to bloomington to take him out for dinner & celebratory drinks. needless to say, it was a subdued evening. i remember going home after work and watching the news non-stop until chris came home. we were just in shock. and then the worry set in about friends who lived in the city. utlimately, the people i knew were okay, but there were so many others that weren't.

six years later and i am now a new yorker. i have never for a day doubted moving here. i absolutely love living in this city.

Went to Washington, DC and this was out on the way to the changing of the guard.

Alzheimer's

(Noun)

Progressive mental deteriorization that can occur in middle or old age, due to generalized degeneration of the brain. It is the most common cause of premature senility.

That is the definition of Alzheimer's. What that definition fails to mention is that it affects so much more than the brain. You lose someone you love, to a point beyond recognition. Someone who raised you, forgets who you are, and you are left watching the person you love and admire slip away into a shell of lost memories.

All that is left is the hope that where ever their mind is resting now, it is somewhere that you can say "Remember me?" and they can reply "Always."

I Remember You

"Go and cry in the hearing of Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus says the Lord: "I remember you, The kindness of your youth, The love of your betrothal, When you went after Me in the wilderness, In a land not sown." [Jeremiah 2:2]

Let us note that Christ delights to think upon his Church, and to look upon her beauty. As the bird returns often to its nest, and as the wayfarer hastens to his home, so does the mind continually pursue the object of its choice. We cannot look too often upon that face which we love; we desire always to have our precious things in our sight. It is even so with our Lord Jesus. From all eternity "His delights were with the sons of men;" his thoughts rolled onward to the time when his elect should be born into the world; he vie?wed them in the mirror of his foreknowledge. The Bible's says in Psalm 139:16, " in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them". When the world was set upon its pillars, he was there, and he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. Many a time before his incarnation, he descended to this lower earth in the similitude of a man; on the plains of Mamre (Gen. 18), by the brook of Jabbok (Gen. 32:24-30), beneath the walls of Jericho (Jos. 5:13), and in the fiery furnace of Babylon (Dan. 3:19, 25), the Son of Man visited his people. Because his soul delighted in them, he could not rest away from them, for his heart longed after them. Never were they absent from his heart, for he had written their names upon his hands, and graven them upon his side. As the breastplate containing the names of the tribes of Israel was the most brilliant ornament worn by the high priest, so the names of Christ's elect were his most precious jewels, and glittered on his heart. We may often forget to meditate upon the perfections of our Lord, but he never ceases to remember us. Let us chide ourselves for past forgetfulness, and pray for grace ever to bear him in fondest remembrance. Lord, paint upon the eyeballs of my soul the image of thy Son. Hallelujah, God bless
