Relocation - Day 2. Almost all our home sweet home is packed in boxes and it's being loaded in a big Finnish truck. Sigh. Sun and nearly 20 degrees in the outside. The neighbors coming and wishing us good luck even if we were plain foreigners just 2 years ago. I'm enjoying once more the view from the roof of our house in the top of a cliff.

This photo has been taken as part of the scientific effort of the salvage archaeologist team H.U.N.E. to document the Sudanese Arab tribe of the Manasir and their cultural landscape 'Dar al-Manasir' situated at the Fourth Cararact of the River Nile.
The homeland of the Manasir will be submerged by the reservoir lake of the Hamdab High Dam (Merowe Multi-Purpose Hydro Project) in the very near future and all inhabitants have to be relocated by the Sudanese government.

Due to the draught in recent years, the water level of Lake Mead has dropped to a record low. For this reason, Lake Mead Marina had to be relocated. The marina has been a popular launch place since the 1940's. With just a handfull of civilian 'tug' boats, the marina was moved in it's entirety. It was moved to Hemenway Harbor on the south side of the relocated Las Vegas Bay Marina.

As another summer ends and we get ready to close our pond, we have to relocate this years visitor to a small lake near Nick Hart's house.
This adult Peregrine Falcon attempted to catch a flying gull, missed, and landed in this tree right in front of me at Melanie Lane in East Hanover, NJ. He noticed me after about 5 seconds and bailed. I additionally also flushed 2 woodcocks at this same location... unfortunately no shots of them.
Update: Michael Girone got some information on the tags. Mike says "Art McMorris who bands Peregrines in PA banded this bird, a male, in the nest last year on May 14 at the PA Turnpike Bridge in Bristol, PA (it spans the Delaware River). This male had 2 sisters that were also banded. The bridge has long been a Peregrine nest site, though the pair has occasionally relocated to the NJ side. I'll also add that I photographed a young Peregrine with this same band configuration last year in August and September at DeKorte Park in the Meadowlands. I was only able to get a "1" from the black and green band, but that bird also had blue tape on the silver band and seemed small enough to be a male. So there's a reasonably good chance that this is the same bird."

A mother and cub are being relocated. If they roam into Churchill, they're put in polar bear jail for 30-days and then relocated to the North of town, in hopes that they won't return to town.

Environmental degradation within cities has become a worldwide phenomena where natural resources are relocated to satisfy the population’s infrastructure needs. Its recognition has become key to the development of sustainable design as a way to restore its surroundings and eliminate economic mediators through urban agriculture. The site will be a stepping stone between vegetation patterns found east and west of Pruitt-Igoe. The project intends to function as a real-life laboratory that provides education, recreation and relaxation to communities nearby.
The site works as a practice area for individuals to learn quick, efficient and energy-saving ways of food productions. Tomatoes, cabbage, beans and radishes are some of the many crops grown through intercropping where crop exchange nutrients. The roof is composed of triangular solar panels that provide energy to the entire site and its neighbors. The existing plant is used to create biomass energy converted from rotting garbage, and agricultural and human waste on site that also produces ethanol and biodiesel to the city of St. Louis and nearby counties. The community center is composed of a resource center with five classrooms, a market of on-site products, two organic cafes, an administration area and a roof garden with a terrace that overlooks the gardens, the plaza and cropfields. The plaza acts as a conector and activity space for visitors and locals. Visual gardens are home to Missouri’s endangered trees, shrubs, flowers and animals. Artificial ponds recollect rainwater and function as irrigation systems to maintain vegetation. Overall, the proyect integrates as an environmental assessment to attract people to northern St. Louis.
