I was stunned to see such a big and well-maintained monastery at such a remote place, where it used to take at least four days of trek to reach even a few years back, with just a small village having hardly fifty households.
Yes, Lingshed monastery is one of the oldest remote monasteries in Zanskar valley. It was established in the 15th century around the same time when Kasrsha and Padum monstaries were also established in Zanskar, a region of Ladakh, which still lies cuf off from the mainland in winter due to unbearably low temperature,
The new monstery has replaced the old cave monasteries.

Visitando el pueblo fortificado de Villefranche-de-Conflent, en los Pirineos, tuvimos la suerte de poder entrar en la iglesia, del siglo XII, que no siempre está abierta al público. Las iglesias no son una gran fuente de inspiración para mi, y tampoco lo es la religión. Lo que si me parece (a veces) mágico es el contraste entre la oscuredad habitual y la luz que entra por los ventanales. Al final de la tarde, la luz daba al este coro antiguo, que desde luego no estaba en su emplazamiento originario sino que había sido desplazado debajo del campanario románico, al oeste.
Me paré un momento para hacer una foto y estuve imaginando la historia de estos árboles, que siglos atrás un artesano había sigilosamente transformado en asientos para el clérigo, y que habían atravesado el tiempo y las guerras hasta perdurar hasta hoy. Cuántos posteriores sagrados se habrán sentado en esos asientos... en invierno, en verano, en épocas de conflictos, en tiempos de bonanza...
Y luego me fijé en la firma de este Roger Souquet, otro de los miles de aficionados a los grafitis, que sin saberlo había ligado su historia individual a esta cadena de individualidades que había permanecido allí en esas sillas... En fin Jackie, que este tema que tan poco me inspiraba me ha llevado a imaginar toda una historia :-)
Durante la misa en la iglesia de Céret, me daba un poco de pena porqué había muy poca gente, quizás unas 10 mujeres y un hombre, y aunque pusiera mi cámera en modo silencio se oía un ruidito cada vez que disparaba... Me gustó jugar con las velas y los reflejos de luz sobre la madera de las sillas, que formaban un bokeh suave, así como con la textura de este antiguo missel (libro de misa, creo) que encontré en un banco.

This church was built by and for slaves in Tiradentes, Minas Gerais in the early 1700s. It was the first church in town. There are paintings on the ceiling and images of black saints in the side altars. The painting of the ceiling shows Our Lady of the Rosary giving a bible to St. Francis and a rosary to St. Dominico. The panelled door is set in a carved stone frame and there is an image of St. Benedict in a niche above it.

Aprovechando los inexplicables días continuados de cielos despejados en Asturias, se puede seguir sin problema la evolución de la luna. Vuelvo a intentar mejorar la foto que ya conseguí meses atrás. Esta versión me convence más.
de nuestra visita al monasterio budista, una versión en blanco y negro. menos mal que cuando llegamos brillaba el sol, y al poco tiempo aparecieron estos fotogénicos nubarrones que incluso descargaron una pequeña llovizna...
nunca pensé que encontrar todos los tesoros en blanco y negro fuera a ser tan difícil para mí! la combinación de tonos claros y oscuros ha de ser tan específica para que su conversión dé algo interesante... qué sudores me está dando!!! :-D
Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1671-1687. It is one of the few architectural monuments of the 17th century in Yaroslavl that were built with support from local parishioners and donors. The largest cathedral in Yaroslavl, it still stays one of the most remarkable buildings in the city. The cathedral has two aisles that are topped with closely located five-headed domes. The height of the aisles equals to the height of the central building; so if you look from the east the church resembles 15-headed cathedral with 5-apsis altar. The exterior of the church strikes with diversity and splendour of décor, dominated by figured brick from two brick factories of the city.

Здесь применены все основные приемы декора русской архитектуры XVII века, среди которых главное место занимает фигурный кирпич.
Разнообразие его форм огромно — от скромных профилей до целых фигурных плит: это разнообразные бусины, розетки, валики, косички, колонки разных размеров и форм, дыньки, кокошники и т. д. Эта изощренная каменная краснокирпичная «резьба» прекрасно сочетается с цветными изразцами.
Изображение церкви помещено на оборотной стороне 1000-рублевой купюры, выпущенной в обращение в 2001 году.

Nantgwyllt Church in Wales, near the Garreg-Ddu Dam within the Elan Valley area of Mid Wales.
This is an early 20th century stone built church having been built to replace the earlier submerged chapel, which was lost when creating the reservoir adjacemnt to the church. Many of the original internals are reused in this later church.
