I'm reliably informed that this small butterfly originates from South Africa. It found its way into Western Europe as a result of the garden trade and was first seen in Majorca in 1990 and is now widespread.

It was a really cool feature of the ultra modern Caltrain station in downtown San Francisco. As new as the building was, all of the start times for the trains inside the station were shown with old, wooden signs. The ride back to San Mateo (where I was staying with friends) was cool too.

The Exa was a 35mm SLR developed by Ihagee of Dresden, Germany in 1951. It is a simple but reliable version of the Exakta. Despite the limited shutter speeds, the Exa cameras were well designed for ambitious amateurs with interchangeable lenses and viewfinder units.
Although the Exa is much simpler than the professional Exakta cameras, the workmanship is equally good, finish similar, and the family resemblance obvious. Ihagee did not produce their own lenses. Instead they relied on many of the major optical firms of the day to each produce a series of lenses, eg. Carl Zeiss Jena, Meyer-Optik Görlitz and Schneider-Kreuznach.
