With plenty of empty park benches to use during Lockdown, there's no problem with having one all to yourself to get comfortable on for that one-a-day permitted outdoor walk.
We must've sat there for a good half hour before we even went to the dock, just taking in the moment and looking out at the lake and the coots swimming around in it.
Our road trip was still maybe just 24 hours in, but we already felt like we'd been on a grand display.
But the grander moments were yet to come.
Taken in the early 1970's, this is Mrs N relaxing in our old Riley Elf car. We had just bought our first house and couldn't afford a decent car. It was so bad the ignition regularly shorted out against the exhaust pipe and we wedged it away from the starter switch with a piece of wood. The wood gradually worked loose, dropped out and the engine stopped. I then had to jump out with a fresh piece of wood, roll underneath and wedge the exhaust again.
Then switch the ignition on and push start the car (on my own) because the starter motor didn't work either. Those were the days.
