Another flippin' picture of rocks at the sea. My apologies.

At this time of year, elephant seals take over the beach and it's kind of frightening. When the sun goes down, it is hard to see these car-sized creatures in the dunes...

Description

The Indigenous Peoples in Canada are an inspirational example of resilience due to their ability to withstand adversity and persevere through generations of oppressive colonial policies. Historic injustices persist, including the effects of cultural genocide from the residential school system of Canada. Here we symbolize bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples through gathering. Accomplished through the support of the seven grandfather teachings, represented by the seven rings of the installation, that originated with the Anishnabae Peoples, passed down through generations that ensures the survival of all Indigenous Peoples: Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth. Orange represents the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, and the reality that the support of non-Indigenous Peoples, as Indigenous Peoples assert rights to self-determination, will strengthen relations and begin to redress the historic wrongs. Orange is displayed in the ropes where the pattern pays homage to the creation of drums, where the ropes were weaved to honour culture. The installations flow towards the lifeguard stand reinforces the strengthening of the relationship and that the protection of Canada hinges on the unity between peoples. We aim to symbolize movement to a new relationship, one based on mutual respect that honours Indigenous treaties and rights. The road forward is long and nonlinear, but we commit to take the journey together.

This cat works for this woman: she runs the shop and cat sits in front of it and attracts passers-by :)

Yep, the Love Locks have found their way into Salem, Oregon, too. They seem to be everywhere, now. The Love Locks you see here are on the Union Street Railroad Bridge that spans the Willamette River.

A quick snap while headed to an appointment. When I returned later for a better shot the bike was gone.

Processing notes:

Contrast enhanced with a "Daidoish" preset (contrast 90+, clear view 50+, blacks -40 or less, dark orange filter, tone curve adjusted to crush blacks and blow highlights)

Noise reduction makes this camera seem like a much larger sensor camera. (DXO Prime, in Photolab) The small sensor and mediocre sensitivity makes very noisy images in most cases except full sun. Yes, it has a nice, bright f2.0, f2.8, or f8.0 at the widest aperture, but this quickly decreases to f4.8, f6.3, or f18 at full telephoto. I try to keep the middle aperture for sharpness.

Claudette: "I've hired you and your PR firm to help me with my public image...you see, everyone thinks I'm this total Diva"

Lula: "....Um...well, you are a Diva, your Darling Diva"

Claudette: "I don't care Lula, Can you help me?"

Lula: "all right dollface, I can clean up your image but you'll have to follow my advice...and no more nude photos"

Claudette: "Okay, fine!"

This is pretty interesting as it is a Chinese Restaurant in Japan...in a not so busy street so it goes unnoticed. I took note of a few things. This store like others uses Chinese and Japanese characters in the title (as current written Japanese is a mix of Japanese and Chinese characters to start). It is quite interesting to me as diplomatic relations between Japan and China aren't so smooth right now, or ever have been for that matter...but the spread of food and culture break through such barriers.
