A lot of work is being done in De Efteling at the moment. One of the projects that has just been completed is the former Panorama restaurant, which is operated by La Place and is fully included in Reizenrijk as part of De Wereld van Sindbad.
This restaurant is very well themed. It feels like I was in Morocco.
Kashba
The former Panorama self-service was a self-service restaurant in the Panorama restaurant complex in the Reizenrijk. Until 2016 it was called De Globetrotter. Since June 2022, it has been operated by caterer Vermaat with its La Place concept. It closed on January 9, 2023 when the Panorama complex was converted into the Kashba restaurant.
In the spring of 2023, the Panorama complex was thematically added to the World of Sindbad. The strict separation between the separate service and self-service restaurants was dropped and one large new restaurant was created: Kashba, with a separate semi-serviced section with QR codes inside. This whole is still operated under the La Place formula, but with the addition of some Middle Eastern dishes.
Date of opening of Kashba was 1 April 2023.

The autumn of 2023 and therefore also the Winter Efteling in December will mainly be without sun, but with a lot of rain and gray, dreary and gloomy days. The atmosphere on Anton Pieckplein will become even more beautiful. A not busy day in December, a week before the schools go on Christmas holidays.
Anton Pieckplein
Anton Pieckplein is an Old Dutch village square located in the northeast corner of Marerijk, between restaurant Het Witte Paard and the Reizenrijk. Around the square are Pieck buildings with catering outlets and shops. On the square we find all kinds of fairground mills, two Holle Bolle Gijzen, the Efteling Museum and some suppliers of surprise eggs.
The square is named after founder Anton Pieck.

Spookslot 22/11/2021 14h39
When I took this photo of the back of the Spookslot (Haunted Castle), I didn't know that this part of Efteling would be in the news on December 5 about a possible new attraction. And especially the empty part on the left of the photo where the construction site of Max & Moritz once stood.
Efteling has plans for a new attraction next to Spookslot
Efteling plans to build a new attraction at the Spookslot in the near future. Several insiders confirm this to Looopings. It was actually the intention to start soon with a major expansion on the eastern side of the amusement park. Instead, the focus will be on investments in the existing park for the time being.
In June 2021, the Efteling flag went out when it turned out that a new zoning plan has finally been approved. As a first step, the Reizenrijk park area would be expanded with a large circus-themed rollercoaster. "Probably building from next year", Efteling announced in a press release.
That plan has been shelved, say those involved. The focus will first be on the current amusement park. Last month it became clear that a luxury hotel will be built at the entrance building of the House of the Five Senses. A second construction project that Efteling is currently working on is the area near the Spookslot.
That attraction is anything but popular 44 years after its opening. Despite the famous soundtrack - Danse Macabre by composer Camille Saint-Saëns - most visitors nowadays ignore the haunted castle from 1978. Efteling wants to create a coherent themed world, as happened with Max & Moritz (2020) and the World of Sindbad (2021).
Right next to the Spookslot there is currently a bare asphalt surface, which was released during the demolition of the Bob. But which attraction does Efteling choose? There are different stories about this. The fate of the Spookslot itself - an absolute classic for many Efteling fans - also remains uncertain.
As with the news about the hotel, Efteling does not want to confirm anything. A spokesperson continues to emphasize that the plans for the future have not yet been determined, partly due to the constantly changing measures regarding covid-19 and the financial consequences thereof. It is hoped that the year will end well financially. After that, the park will look further, according to the information officer.

The Warme Winter Weide (Meadow) is the big novelty of the Winter Efteling 2021-2022. Due to the covid-19 measures, the large tent on Speelweide had to make way this year for a field with campfires, snow-covered Christmas trees and stalls with food, drinks and souvenirs.
The Efteling winter season started 15/11/2020. Although the Warme Winter Meadow was born out of necessity - the old Ice Palace was not corona proof - the public is enthusiastic about the change. For the Warme Winter Meadow, Efteling has combined several existing elements. In the middle of the oval-shaped meadow there is a podium with two large campfires on either side. The field is surrounded by covered terraces, pine trees and wooden huts with winter delicacies.
We work with a fixed walking route and a separate entrance and exit. Room has been made for toilet trucks at the edge of the field. During busy periods, the Warme Winter Meadow can be temporarily closed to ensure that keeping a meter and a half distance remains possible.
Efteling miniatures are sold at one of the stalls. An Efteling Christmas village has also been built. [ Loopings 11/2021 ]

Vogelrok 20/05/2023 15h01
The boarding station at the enclosed rollercoaster Vogelrok.
Vogelrok
The name of the ride, Vogel Rok, refers to the adventure of Sinbad and the Bird Roc from the 1001 Arabian Nights; the extensive theming covers, beside the ride, the building and the queue line. The building has as a frontage a giant colorful Roc, the largest bird in Europe, according to the Guinness Book of Records. In the opening year there weren’t a lot of effects in the ride, and the link between the story and the ride wasn’t very clear. Since then a Serpent’s mouth has been added at the end of the ride, which lights up as the train goes through it. There used to be a laser-light-show at the queue, but that has been removed. This was done because the lights were too low, and people would look at them, thereby damaging their eyes. In 2007, more themed decorations were added.
Lasers project over the train as it climbs the lift-hill and seen to the left are four Rocs flying off. In a strong curve down leftwards the train dives towards the ground and several more curves bring the train through a tunnel of lasers.
The train then falls into a helix and goes through a Serpent’s mouth, which lights up as the train passes through it. The last curve is decorated with fiber optic lights, portraying the diamond treasure.
Apparent wind-effects stimulate the ride-experience.
The ride has an onboard sound system with a synchronized soundtrack written by composer Ruud Bos, who also wrote the musical themes for Droomvlucht, Fata Morgana and Villa Volta.

The Winter Efteling takes place from November 11, 2023 till February 2, 2024. With life-size snow globes on the Ton van de Venplein and in Ruigrijk. Get in there and let it snow! That produces a real winter picture. Also this winter you will also see the elves from Droomvlucht on the Ton van de Venplein. They brought a music box.
The Playground will also change into the attractive Warm Winter Meadow this year. Enter through the gate and discover extra entertainment and a heart-warming musical offering every day. Take a picture with Pardoes at the sleigh and Fay the Fairy and Pinocchio make it snow. Or listen to the polyphonic music of Zang en Happy. Warm up at the Bonfires, play games at the various chalets, enjoy delicious winter treats and browse through the winter souvenirs. Or skate a round on the larger skating rink in the open air.

Pagode
Pagoda (or "Pagode" in Dutch) is an unobtrusive variation of an observation tower in the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. It was designed by Ton van de Ven and started operating in 1987.
The Pagode, developed by Intamin as a flying island, is described by Efteling as a "flying temple".
It consists of a 155 tons weighing cabin and a 225-ton hydraulic arm which pivots it from the ground up to a height of 60 metres.
The counterweight of 340 tons sinks 30 metres into the ground.
To maintain the balance of the cabin itself the weight of the 100 visitors is distributed over its two sides.
The rotating cabin has a 15 metre high pagoda on top of it.
Etymology studies indicated that the word pagoda means tomb in Thai (ธาตุเจดีย). Preoccupied with upsetting a whole nation, as with Fata Morgana, Efteling choose the Dutch word "pagode" as the ride name.
Ride length: 4 minutes
Ride capacity: 1500 passengers/ hour

Summer Festival Meadow 20/05/2023 10h42
It seems that De Efteling will give the base of the festival site a permanent foundation. Pavement and masts for equipment, lighting and flags.
In the Summer of 2023 Carnival Festival characters Jokie and Jet get their own summer meadow in Efteling during the high season. The amusement park is working on a summer festival site on the Speelweide, with entertainment, games, catering and a few DIY attractions.
The temporary addition is designed as a beach with colorful umbrellas, seating areas, beach huts and shade cloths. A hot air balloon will be placed in the heart of the area, known from the stories of Jokie and Jet. In addition, two large circles are visible, where a sandbox and a bouncy castle will be realized.
The Speelweide in the Reizenrijk park section is increasingly being used for temporary initiatives. During the summer season of 2022, Efteling Wonderland could still be found on the site, on the occasion of the theme park's seventieth anniversary. In winter, the area transforms into the Warm Winter Meadow. Only part of the field is used for the new Jokie and Jet concept.
Jokie has been the host of the cheerful dark ride Carnival Festival since 1984. Since 2012, the little jester has been accompanied by the purple bird Jet. Over the past decade, Efteling has launched shows, souvenirs and an animated series based around the children's brand. This makes Jokie and Jet among the most prominent Efteling figures in and outside the park.

Gondoletta
Gondoletta is a Water ride in amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands. It was developed by Intamin (as a Tow boat ride); designed by Ton van de Ven and started operating in 1981.
Gondoletta is the attraction with the strongest connection to the roots of the Foundation Nature Park the Efteling. With the destruction of a large part of the Dutch economy during the Second World War the rampant unemployment of the time forced the government to institute New Deal –like employment programs.
In the case of Kaatsheuvel, the local employment agency formed a joint- venture with The Royal Dutch Moor Company' (or " Koninklijke Nederlandsche Heidemaatschappij" in Dutch); the part of the company involved with land reclamation and development still exists today under the name Arcadis.
The development of the nature park started in 1950 with the construction of a lake; connected to a decorative ponds with a channel, forests and recreation facilities.
For the construction of Gondoletta the channel had to be diverted to create a closed circuit; it no longer connects to the canoe -pond but curves back to the Decorative Pond.
The ride’s boarding platform uses a rotating disk, a system later implemented in Carnival Festival, Fata Morgana and Piraña.
The boats themselves were originally designed for Fata Morgana, the ride that opened in 1986 on another water location in the park.
The softly playing music in the boats is harp concert Allegro Brillante (11 minutes) from François-Adrien Boieldieu from his Concerto pour Harpe et Orchestre en ut majeur Op.82 (1801). The same music can be heard at the Little Mermaid.

Gondoletta 31/08/2021 16h54
For many people a 20-minute rest during a visit to the park.
Ride length: 20 minutes | 1081 meters

Ride capacity: 40 boats; 1100 passengers/ hour
Cost: € 2 million

Seething storms, maddening lulls, sea monsters and shipwrecks were his share. But he also encountered remarkable islands, wise women, mythical birds and a good dose of luck. After 33 years, the Monsieur Cannibale attraction in the Efteling will have a different theme and was announced in June 2021. And this, together with the adjacent Avonturen Doolhof, which will be replaced by a water playground, which will be called Archipel.
A total investment of 2.8 million euros is involved.
At Monsieur Cannibale, the cooking pots are replaced by trade boats from merchant Sindbad de Zeeman. "A whirlwind has sprung out at sea and anyone who sets foot on board is embarking on a dizzying adventure until the storm subsides," the description reads.
The area around the attractions, located in the Reizenrijk park part, will be completely redesigned. This creates two separate squares: a 1001 Nacht square with Vogel Rok, Sirocco and Archipel and a square with the Carnival Festival and souvenir shop Jokies Wereld. The new part will be called World of Sindbad. Monsieur Cannibale's entrance and queue will be moved.

Pagode 08/03/2022 11h11
The Pagode in the Efteling is out of use here for months. On Monday, February 28, 2022, the flying Thai temple from 1987 closed for a major overhaul. The work is expected to last until early July 2022. The park speaks of an "extensive" job.
During the renovation, three different issues are tackled: replacing the bearings, renewing the steering and maintaining the hydraulic systems.
Pagode
Pagoda (or "Pagode" in Dutch) is an unobtrusive variation of an observation tower in the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. It was designed by Ton van de Ven and started operating in 1987.
The Pagoda, developed by Intamin as a flying island, is described by Efteling as a "flying temple".

Ride capacity: 1500 passengers/ hour

Carnaval Festival
Carnival Festival is a darkride in Reizenrijk. The attraction is a ride in a cart that, via the Omnimover system, transports visitors through the building, where cheerful scenes of different cultures of the world are portrayed through music, sets and around 275 dolls.
The spiritual father of the Carnival Festival is Joop Geesink, who devised and designed the attraction just before his death. The attraction, referred to in a 1984 advertisement by the Efteling as 'a life-size viewing box', is primarily nationally known for its music. The recognizable tune was created by Toon Hermans. Ruud Bos searched for the harmonies and notes and processed the main melody into various arrangements. Bos thus had his first collaboration with Efteling and remained the house composer of the park in the following fourteen years. Carnival Festival is the first time the park does not use existing music, but has it composed specially.
The ride is split into about twenty scenes, in which fifteen countries are portrayed through typical, clichéd features and changes in the arrangements of the music.

Vogelrok 03/06/2021 17h07
After a lockdown which started on 15/12/2020 and ended on 18/05/2021 (22 weeks). In the first place all indoor attractions had to remain closed. Vogelrok, Droomvlucht, Symbolica, Fata Morgana, Villa Volta, Indische Waterlelies and Chinese Nachtegaal were not accessible. This means the square in front of Vogelrok was empty on the 3rd of June. From 05/06/2021 all indoor rides and attractions were allowed to open so De Efteling had much more capacity again. Hopefully covid-19 is fading out now.

Efteling Wonderland 08/03/2022 11h24
The construction of something temporary and something beautiful! On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Efteling, a temporary fairy tale (a pop-up fairy tale) is being built on the so-called playground where the Winter Efteling is also located. Here the fairy tale is under construction and the opening is planned for Monday March 27, 2022. It is based on the fairy tale Alice in Wonderland. A fairytale that has never been given a place in De Efteling before. So now you can see it until the beginning of October.
Efteling Wonderland
Efteling Wonderland is designed like the vegetable garden of the March Hare from Lewis Carroll's famous children's book from 1865, with an enormous rabbit hole and a large festive table with chairs. Furthermore, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit are also present. Wooden huts, which previously stood on the Warme Winter Weide, were provided with a new print.
Most set pieces were not produced in-house: they were designed and made by the Brabant company Create. That company was previously responsible for the interior of the Ice Palace in the Winter Efteling.
De Efteling tackled the project on a grand scale. In addition to entertainment, catering establishments, terraces, souvenir shops, paid games and photo points were realized. Efteling opted for a festive fairy tale on the occasion of the park's 70th anniversary. Visitors can order (no)birthday cakes, among other things.
Soon more...
