Copley Square Hotel

A 2008 renovation buffed out a lot of the history of the second-oldest operating hotel in the U.S., but just know that the Copley Square has hosted many notables since its 1891 opening, including Babe Ruth, Billie Holiday and several presidents going back to McKinley.

United Airlines entered Boeing 777 history even before the aircraft's first flight. Of course, seven other airlines also participated in the development of this model. But it was United that became the launch customer of the program in 1990, actively participating in the development of the new airliner's concept. United engineers worked side by side with Boeing specialists, defining requirements for the cockpit, ergonomics, and onboard systems.

The first Boeing 777-200 in United livery took to the skies in May 1995, a month after type certification, and on June 7th performed its first commercial flight on the London-Washington route. In subsequent years, United expanded its fleet of "Triple Sevens," ordering both the baseline 777-200 version and the long-range 777-200ER with extended range. It was the ER version that became the fleet's backbone, enabling connections between San Francisco and Sydney, Chicago and Tokyo, Newark and Tel Aviv – routes that previously required intermediate stops.

Following an upsurge of interest in small roadsters following the launch of the Mazda MX5, the Rover Group set about producing an updated version of the discontinued MGB. With the production of new body panels, an update of the suspension but retaining the old leaf spring rear of the MGB. The boot lid and doors were shared with the original car, as was the rear drum brakes. However the engine was the 3,9 litre version of the Rover V8, previously used in the MGB GT V8. A limited slip differential was also fitted.

The interior was finished to luxury specifications featuring veneered burr elm woodwork and Connolly leather.

Performance was good with 190bhp.

Air Canada is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Canada by fleet size and passengers carried. It is headquartered in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The airline, founded in 1937, provides scheduled and charter air transport for passengers and cargo to 207 destinations worldwide. It is a founding member of the Star Alliance.

On October 19, 2004, Air Canada introduced a new livery in new and unexpected colors. On this day, the Boeing 767-300ER, painted silver-blue, was presented. The former dark green tail has acquired a new, very complex color scheme with gradients of different shades of the palette of Canadian nature. All colors were applied to the keel of the aircraft using raster dots of various sizes, from large, clearly visible at a great distance, to small, easily fitting inside larger ones and visible only when standing next to the aircraft.

This livery became known as the "Frosted Leaf" and caused a mixed reaction among professionals and aviation enthusiasts. Whatever it was, but this color scheme "lasted" thirteen years. On February 9, 2017, a new red and black aircraft livery was released to mark the 80th anniversary of Air Canada and the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.

‘Scene at EUROBUS EXPO 2022 /6

on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

At the end of EUROBUS EXPO 2019, I said in my closing blog;

“All being well, I will be back at the NEC next year”.

We all now know that due to the Covid 19 pandemic the years 2020 and 2021 would not see the annual Busfest at the NEC .

However, I am pleased to say that it is back with a bang this year.

This, then, is the sixth of a series of blogs where I pick out what caught my eye at 2022’s show.

‘Optare’, the British bus manufacturer had its origins in ‘Charles H. Roe’ of Leeds.

After a number of changes in location and structure, the company became part of ‘Ashok-Leyland’, which is part of the Indian ‘Hinduja Group’.

To reflect the company’s intention of phasing out diesel engines in favour of electric propulsion a further name change to ‘SWITCH Mobility Ltd’ took place in 2021.

All current production is now badged as ‘SWITCH’.

This demonstrator is built with left hand drive and the rear body styling is a bit unusual but the standard of finish looked excellent.

Aeroflot was founded in 1923 and is one of the oldest airlines in the world. During Soviet times, it was the only air carrier in the country and the largest airline in the world. Most of its routes ran inside the USSR, and at the same time, international transportation was developing, carried out through the International Air Communication Central Control, This department was established in January 1971 on the basis of the International Airlines Transportation Control and had a monopoly on international flights as the Aeroflot—Soviet Airlines brand. In 1984, Aeroflot began operating the Tu-154M, a new modification of the popular aircraft in the USSR. In 1987, the Tu-154M began operating international flights on behalf of Aeroflot—Soviet Airlines.

The word photography in English comes from the Greek where it means registration of light, but the camera sensor registers the darkness just as well, because what is darkness if not the unlit side of the Earth, which is shadow, which is black. In each picture there is some level of contrast, and contrast is defined as the difference between the brightest pixel and the darkest pixel and what is the darkest if not a representative of the night. The above photograph has more shade than light, and therefore more night than light, but it seems that the eye is conditioned to fall in love at first sight with the bright. Romantically the preference of light over darkness is love at first sight, scientifically it is a conditioning, a habit, morally it is discrimination.

משמעות המילה לצילום באנגלית

PHOTOGRAPH

Air Transat is a Canadian airline based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1986, it is the country's third-largest airline, operating scheduled and charter flights, serving 60 destinations in 25 countries. Air Transat made its inaugural flight on November 14, 1987, travelling from Montreal to Acapulco. Air Transat is owned and operated by Transat A.T. Inc., having access to a fleet of 34 aircraft.

Flight 236.

Air Transat Flight 236 was a transatlantic flight bound for Lisbon, Portugal, from Toronto, Canada, that lost all engine power while flying over the Atlantic Ocean on August 24, 2001. The Airbus A330 had run out of fuel due to a fuel leak caused by improper maintenance. Captain Robert Piché and First Officer Dirk de Jager, flew the plane to a successful emergency landing in the Azores, saving all 306 people on board. In 19 minutes, Piché and De Jager flew their plane without engine power some 120 km (75 miles), further than any passenger jet in history.
