Kaiser registered nurses across California held more than 20 informational pickets on Wednesday, Nov. 10 to warn the public against Kaiser’s unsafe, new “Home All Alone” patient-dumping scheme that sends patients in need of hospitalization back home, where they will be overseen remotely by health care providers located miles away.

Banbury North Signal Box. 15/09/2016. If I recall correctly, the requirement to complete the Train Register Book had already ceased before the closure of the signal box, although the Signallers chose to continue the tradition of entering the movement of each train until closure. The bell code used by Banbury South to describe the train is noted, along with the train description. 4M79 (bell code 3-1-1) is the description for Freightliner's container train leaving Southampton at 2253, bound for Lawley Street in Birmingham, typically operated by a Class 66 locomotive. 1U77 (bell code 4) is for the 0005 departure from Marylebone to Banbury, using a 4-car Class 165 DMU.

The Whittell Estate is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places under criteria A, B, and C at the state level. It meets criteria consideration G for properties that have achieved significance within the last 50 years under criteria A and B.
Under criterion A, the property is significant for its association with several different periods of the land development and use at Lake Tahoe including the development of Lake Tahoe as a resort area for the wealthy; the "One Sound State" campaign of the early 1930s; and the role of conservation in protecting lakeside property from development in order to preserve the natural conditions and to provide recreational opportunities. For its critical part in the ongoing conservation and environmental restoration of Lake Tahoe, one of the country's natural scenic treasures, the Whittell Estate meets criteria consideration G at the state level.
Under criterion B, the property is significant for its association with George Whittell Jr. and the Whittell family, a prominent California and Nevada mining family. George Whittell Jr. was a colorful, socially prominent, investor who managed substantial commercial holding in San Francisco and at one time controlled almost the entire Nevada shoreline of Lake Tahoe. Whittell's control of much of the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe and his resolute opposition to development of his property contributed to the conservation of the vital portions of Lake Tahoe's shoreline. For its association with Whittell, the property meets criteria consideration G at the state level.
Under criterion C, the property is significant as one of the last and best examples of a great residential estate on Lake Tahoe from the period in which prominent San Francisco society built homes on Lake Tahoe; as an outstanding example of an approach to architectural design that is intended to be in harmony with its setting; as a representative example of a high of level building crafts stone masonry, iron work, and wood work; and as an example of the work of Frederic J. DeLongchamps, who served as Nevada State Architect and who was Nevada's most prominent architect.
The property retains a high degree of design integrity in the layout, spatial organization, and overall design characteristics of the group of buildings, structures, and landscape features that are the Whittell Estate. The design of individual buildings or features also remains largely intact and unchanged. The design is also strengthened by the high degree of integrity exhibited through unaltered nature of the location, setting, workmanship, and materials. All of the buildings and structures that were designed by Frederic DeLongchamps remain. These include the main house, garage addition to the main house, lighthouse and garage addition, card house, cook and butler's house and garage, admiral's house, and gatehouse. In 1985, a two-story bedroom addition was built on top of the deck of the garage that attaches to the main house. Also in 1985, an entertainment room addition was built on top of the deck of the garage that attached to the lighthouse. Both of these buildings are additions to the original design of the property and are non-contributing features. However, there have been few if any changes to the design of the other buildings and structures designed by DeLongchamps. Overall, there is integrity of design.
The design of the landscape features was the result of artisan stonemasons that worked on the property. No site plan was found of these features, and it is unlikely that there was an overall design for these features. However, it is evident that the three gates, paths, walls, fountains, stone features, and series of outdoor spaces were constructed to take advantage of and dramatize the existing topography and rock outcroppings. It appears that the landscape features that were built during the period of significance remain in place and are unchanged. Also there have been no newer additions to these features.

In the bistro my friend Tara took me to. Lots of cheap but good beer. I loved this old register. The bartender gave us a beer on the house too.

Queensland State Archives ID ITM869682
This item comprises part of a collection which is inscribed on the UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Register - The Convict Records of Queensland 1825 – 1842
This book records details of trials held at the Moreton Bay penal settlement. Governor Brisbane's original instructions of 1824 required the Commandant to maintain a "Register of Offences" . This book, however, also acts as a record of court proceedings.
The format varies throughout the book but entries may include the date, the name of the prisoner, evidence in the form of sworn statements, the prisoner's defence, the opinion, the sentence and the signature of the Commandant. From 10 July 1837 - 8 July 1839, there is no signature - only the word "Commandant". From 25 July 1839, Commandant Gorman added J.P. (Justice of the Peace) after his name (in 1832 a military commandant was vested with the "custody and management" of a penal colony by a statute [3 Wm IV, No 3, s 8] also constituting him ex officio a justice of the peace). In 1841 and 1842 some hearings were also before two non-military Justices of the Peace, Francis Forbes and Arthur Hodgson. These hearings sometimes include the statement " in petty sessions assembled" (for example, pp. 245, 254). Forbes and Hodgson were Darling Downs squatters.
Offences mostly included absconding, disobedience, insolence, insubordination, neglect of work, and stealing, for which the punishment was 25 lashes to 150 lashes (the lowest number recorded in the book is 12 lashes and the highest is 300 lashes for absconding and stealing, absconding for the 7th time, and violent assault of a constable). From 1839 punishments for such offences also included being admonished, solitary confinement on bread and water, or imprisonment with hard labour. Vagrancy by "free" convicts incurred a sentence in the House of Corrections for a period. A more serious offence of theft and "being illegally at large" resulted on 14 February 1839 in 4 convicts being committed for trial in Sydney.
At the back of the book there is a one page listing with the heading: Police reports of all offences committed at Moreton Bay from and after the 20th day of July 1839 as brought before Owen Gorman Esq. J.P. The page is then divided under the sub-headings: Dates: (25 July - 14 October 1839), Prisoner's Name and Ship, To what Department assigned, Offence, Finding and Punishment, Entered at Page
The book begins at page 13 - earlier pages are obviously missing
NOTE: It appears that more than one type of court may have been in operation since some of the entries are headed "New South Wales To Wit" (not Crown Prisoner's name and ship etc.), and refer to the Commandant's position as a Justice of the Peace. These cases include inquiries into deaths or serious crimes such as the murder of Surveyor Stapleton. The various courts may have been: "one justice of the peace exercising a summary jurisdiction"; Courts of General Quarter Sessions; and later, Courts of Petty Sessions. These courts were regulated in a statute [3 Wm IV no. 3].
**Tarboro Historic District** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 80002832, date listed 1980-04-02
Roughly bounded by Albemarle Ave., Walnut, Panola, and Water Sts., and River Rd.
Tarboro, NC (Edgecombe County)
Tarboro is a small coastal plains town which has served as a political and regional trade center since its establishment at the upper terminus of navigation of the Tar River in 1760. The present character of the historic district of the town is a pleasant combination of many contrasting, complementary elements--of small-town graciousness and considerable energy and bustle; of large historic natural open spaces (including the common, the riverside area, and notable churchyards) and densely filled commercial and residential blocks; of handsome and well-preserved tree-lined residential avenues and the contemporary industrial and compact original commercial areas that produced them; of a substantial number of early days of the town and an important collection of houses, shops, churches, and industrial buildings of the postwar growth era; and a remarkable blend of the Old South charm associated with the historic town, and the New South energy of postwar industrialization that made the town what it is today.
