Taken the same day as my last post. They seemed very happy to greet each other. This went on for a minute or two. The female was already on the rocks with her ducklings when the drake arrived. He greeted the ducklings too, although not as enthusiastically. I suppose it could have been a adult child returning to visit its mother, I've seen juvenile, almost adult males do that. But I'd guess it was her mate. In any case, they definitely shared some affection. I felt double lucky to see it. It's my favorite thing to photograph. I know people who refuse to believe birds feel emotions, even though its plain as day that they do. And I just love to see them show it.

Had a talk with my old man
Said, "Help me understand"
He said "Turn 68, oh, you'll re-negotiate"
"Don't stop this train"
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
And don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly we'll never stop this train"
Cause now I see, I'm never gonna stop this train
Never gonna stop this train.

I have always lived in houses, which were very close to the sea and also very close there was a railway line. I have always liked to see a train pass or hear its sound. When I was little and left school, we would go to the railways, close to home, to throw stones at the freight wagons of the freight trains that came down and brought salt from the Súria and Cardona mines, to be loaded onto ships in the port of Barcelona. In addition to throwing stones at it, we counted the number of wagons the locomotive was carrying. Possibly, this train loaded with salt, its schedule was around 1 noon and not at 2:10, like the song written by Albertano and sung with that special voice by Taj Mahal, whom I consider the best bluesman, with permission from B.B. King.
We spend a part of our childhood on the railroad tracks, between abandoned wagons and freight trains. And the port and the sea in summer. Unforgettable days.
There was a day, when several locomotives united, transported many wagons. We count more than a hundred. They seem like a lot to me, but the mind of a child, when he is a child, is a little messy. They talk and think in such a way that it seems they are a little crazy. But they are not. I don't know if it was really more than a hundred wagons that we counted. Possibly we miscounted. But that day... that day was a truly unforgettable "orgy" of stone throwing.
On this railway line, some people died who did not hear the locomotive arrive. And even some person committed suicide, stretched out on the tracks while the railroad came at full speed, without the possibility of stopping. While i'm listening to "Mystery Train" by The Neville Brothers, with this lilting rhythm, imitating the sound of a railway, I remember the kind locomotive driver, who when he saw us, he would sound the train's horn, say hello to us and reduce the speed of the locomotive, so that we had more time to throw stones. We were not hooligans. We were just... children playing .
Never let a train get away from you. And much less, those trains that suddenly appear and cross our lives. Get on all the trains you find, even if they are mysterious... because life is a mystery train, you never know where it will take you.

Cause now I see, I'm never gonna stop this train
Never gonna stop this train.
Well I woke up this morning and the sun refused to shine.
Til I hear the 2:10 train.
Old houses always have vibes. This one was particularly interesting. It is maintained beautifully, but has some rather strange vibes coming off of it is in an area that could be very busy. It brings nothing to the area because it’s been closed for quite some time.. i’ve always thought when I see really interesting properties if walls could talk, what would they say? This house didn’t seem to be able to share. No one seems to know the story of the closures of every business that has tried to survive in this historic building. The only comments I obtained from a couple of locals is that the place is haunted and very creepy.. one lady shared a worker has been coming and going doing some restoration and his constant companion, a small, mixed breed dog stops, staring at the door, and refuses to go in even though her owner is in there. That is a curious thing. As the little dog is quite adventurous per the lady, and always accompanies him on all jobs . hmmm

A couple of pelicans fly just off the East End shoreline of Galveston Island. The day was stormy and the mist lifted for just a couple of minutes to reveal this tall sailing ship – the Elissa, about to enter the Ship Chanel from the Gulf; in the foreground some debris washes up on a rocky, submerged promontory. Elissa, unlike some tall ships of today, is not a replica, but a survivor. She was built in 1877 during the decline of the “Age of Sail” to fill a niche in maritime commerce. Her working life as a freighter came to an end in Piraeus Harbor, Greece, where she was rescued from the scrap yard by a variety of ship preservationists who refused to let her die. She still sails about 4 times a year in the Gulf of Mexico.
I've been crushed beaten down
And I'm frozen to the ground
Like a fool I've trusted you
Still I'm hopelessly in love
I never thought that I would be this helpless
I can't believe I'm giving in for you
I've been crushed, I've had enough
Now I wanna leave but I'm lost
So now I can't break away
Although I've made up my mind
My heart is refusing me
(hey yeah ey ey)
My heart is refusing me
Me for you, you for me
It was us against them all
But slowly it came to me
What was underneath it all
I never thought that you could be this reckless
I can't believe you're doing this to me oh
Strip me down I'm naked now

This coin was donated to me during my childhood, by a Belgian friend of my parents, I was fascinated by the hole.
I still find the hole very intriguing. Worth today €0,64!

Lt. Osed walked into detective Shippe´s office. ´Quistis´, he said, we have talked about this before but you really need a new partner.´ Detective Shippe´s former partner refused to work with her any longer since she was stubborn and only did things her way without taking her partner into account.

I was planning a morning trip to Crosby to have a go at Anthony Gormley's Another Place. Driving up The Wirral to the Mersey Tunnel made me have a rethink as there was no way I'd have been able to see anything. The only places I could think of to try and get above the fog were Everton Brow and the Princes Dock multi-storey car park.
Everton Brow overlooks the whole of Liverpool city centre but probably isn't the most advisable place to be wandering around in the dark on a foggy morning so I made the decision to try the car park. This wasn't without risk either having been refused entry several times before by security and I didn't want to pay £9 for two hours parking in case I wasn't above the fog. However, I was prepared to try a little bribe and bought a coffee from 'Bean' coffeeshop which occupies one of the retail units at the base of the car park in the hope if challenged they'd readily accept.
When I entered the foyer the blind was down on the security room so I pressed for the lift and nervously hit the top floor button. A couple of flights of stairs to the roof parking area slowly revealed the tops of many of the iconic skyline buildings poking out above the fog below. I sat for half an hour drinking the coffee and smoking too many roll ups as it started to get light and the city began to come alive with lights coming on and the traffic beginning to build.
The fog was swirling between the buildings and eventually began to clear enough to reveal a nice sky and this was the scene that presented itself when it was finally light enough to see some colour.
Superb morning with conditions I doubt I'll ever see again. Would I recommend it? Probably not as I was convinced I'd be confronted by security any minute.
Was it worth the risk? Absolutely, though it was wrong on so many levels....

Please say a prayer for our Little Bungee this day as we have decided to go ahead with another operation in an attempt to help him have a chance at a normal life.
As of this juncture, he is dizzy, can't walk straight and refuses food and water.
His surgery will attempt to remove a growth causing this unfortunate physical symptom interfering with his life.
He is still very young so perhaps he will be able to overcome this infirmary.
Thank you all in advance for your prayer and thoughts.

A beautiful Sunflower refusing to admit it's officially Autumn. They self seed everywhere in the polytunnel and I'm happy to let them grow amongst the vegetables. Goldfinches (and Field mice) appreciate the bounty of seeds in Winter too. This one was about 8ft tall, nearly touching the top of the polythene.

From John Walker's Friction Lights to Samuel Jones' Lucifers
In 1827, the pharmacist John Walker invented the first friction-lighting match, as we know it today. Inspired by the work of an Irish physicist and chemist, Robert Boyle, he imagined a mixture that could ignite by friction on a rough surface. As a good scientist, and not wanting to make the process of his discovery known, he refused to patent it, contenting himself with marketing his product himself, and going about his business as a pharmacist, botanist and mineralogist. This process for manufacturing matches ended up being patented under the name of Lucifers by a certain Samuel Jones. However, Lucifers presented many problems: unstable and violent flame, unpleasant odor. It is said that despite all these inconveniences, the number of smokers increased because of this invention. They could finally wander around in nature, with their cigarettes, cigars and pipes, in complete independence.

Heard a bull frog croaking loudly then walked to the other side of a back pool and found this one hiding in the heavy shade as shown in next photo, but a ray of sunlight finally broke through to light it up. Waited several minutes but it never moved and refused to croak while I was watching so left. I'm sure it wanted to continue call for a mate and didn't want to give up its place. Still wanting to get a photo of one croaking, maybe someday. :)

Offered to Queen Victoria to sleep in, on her visit to the castle, she refused, stating that it reminded her of gravestones....anyway, I am sure they found something else suitably regal elswhere in the castle....without kicking any of the servants out of their rooms....
Leo was back! Everyone was so happy, Bears refused to go back to the Attick for their Winter sleep. Even Easter Rabbit came out of the box of Easter decorations before time. Every day we could hear happy voices and Old Gentleman and Lady were smiling more than usually.
Every day we were taking new and new photos and they were sent to my granddaughter and she was glad to see that Leo has got so many friends.
This photo was taken a week later since Leo came back ...The group was sitting in the living room to take the photo for my granddaughter and then I noticed someone who was staying behind the door...

Antigoon was a giant who lived on the Scheldt, the river of Antwerp. Antwerp was and still is a busy port, and the giant charged a high toll for all the ships that sailed through. If anyone refused to pay, Antigoon would chop off their hand and throw it in the river! One day Brabo, a Roman soldier, killed the giant by chopping off his head. Because Antigoon’s modus operandi was chopping off a hand of anyone who did not or could not pay the toll, Brabo also cut off the hand of Antigoon and threw it into the Scheldt.
In Dutch “hand throwing” is “hand werpen”, which eventually turned into “Antwerpen”.
Drum had to go on a business trip. So I decided to stay home and have a movie night and popcorn. Suddenly appeared Sir Elton, elegantly dressed in a pink tuxedo. He was bored, and he wanted to go dancing. Can you imagine what happened?. When I saw his pretty face, I couldn't refuse. Time to party!
