Actually I don't like the floor in my flat so much. The fake marble pattern can look quite dirty and distracting in pictures. But in the recent Galleries 263, 260 and 254 I've noticed in some images there is a nice shine on the floor. So I have tested different lighting settings to achieve the best mirroring and gave the floor a thorough cleaning with a high-gloss floor detergent. The mirroring is still weak, therefore the shadows from my body must overlay the reflection in order not to fade the mirroring. The only way I could handle this is to face the flashes agains the walls behind me and not to light up the mirror image too much. After some tests I think this is the best I can do. The reflections add another interesting component to the images, which I really like. What do you think?

A DOCUMENTATION
The photos collected here are a small part of a larger series of “Reflection” photos I have been collecting for two years. They are close-up images of reflections found on the surface of the ponds and streams located within a short distance from my home outside of Logan, OH. The collection displayed here represent the photos taken during a two hour period on the afternoon of October 9, 2008. Viewers can refer to the time charts found along with the display to follow the sequence of the shoot.
As this project has developed I have begun grouping photos into set of three based on similarities in different formal, objective, or time based elements. The selection process has no specific rules, but is based more on personal editorial vision. The sets are the primary way in which the reflections are typically displayed.
In this specific exhibition, I have chosen to give a more general overview of the variety of images I might find during one shoot, rather than showing only selections of my personal editorial choices.

I seem to have a thing for reflections these days. Again I was lucky, didn't know this place existed. And who knows, maybe it ceased to exist just after I left.

Last Saturday afternoon and evening, we had a farewell party for one of the founders of Southwest Search Dogs, who is moving to South Carolina, at the home of our new board member, Sandy. Sandy and Bill have the most beautiful (although not the most expensive) home and gardens that I have ever seen and since I just happened to have my camera along (if you believe that, then you don't know me very well), I thought I'd try to capture the essence of their gorgeous place, digitally. It was the perfect time of day and I got so many good shots that I will be posting them for some time to come.
This reflection globe is tinted lavender, so it really enhanced the sunset, as well as the whole garden. The only problem was getting myself out of the photograph, which I thought I had, when I looked at the back of the camera, but when I view this large, I can see that I'm still there. Tim's there, too, even though he tried to move out of the scene, but I did manage to cut off his head.
I hope that by following this set, you will be able to see Sandy's creativity and exquisite taste. Both Sandy and Bill worked really hard to build their beautiful abode and it certainly paid off.
