Fall colors reflect on the Cheat River, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia.

Just returned from North Carolina and the fall foliage (wow, it was amazing!) and I had planned to begin sharing some more of the images from our earlier trip to Alaska ... and perhaps some of those magnificent colors of the east ... but I began reflecting. Yes, my mind returned to those incredible polar bears from less than a month ago.

Reflection ... that's quite appropriate when sharing today's image. This young cub was just playing with its mom when it wandered off towards the edge of the snow covered landscape towards us. On this particular morning, there was barely a breathe of wind, which played perfectly into what I had hoped would be the result. I waited patiently for the cub to not only near the edge, but eventually lose interest in the scent in the snow and ultimately look up at us. Below was an amazing reflection of this adorable puff ball of a polar bear cub. So very curious as to our presence, though it really didn't alter its behavior in any way ... well, except for that glance.

Connected ... that's how I felt at this particular moment. A sudden surge of happiness passed through me, as if it were an electrical current. That's the moment that I long for ... the moment that I wait for ... and the moment that I treasure most. :-)

As I sit in my office this morning, I can't help but wonder where they are now and how they are faring. I hope that perhaps we will meet again. It can happen and it did happen with a particular brown bear in Katmai NP & Preserve ... precisely 2 years later. It was undeniable and I'll share that image and story tomorrow.

Thanks so much for stopping by to view and especially for sharing your thoughts and comments.

On reflection this is one of my favourite Bridge shots i've got. It was a spur of the moment decision to stop due to the stillness and glad i did - really like the soft wavey reflections. :-) 0.9 hard grad.

Rydal Reflections

On a trip to Rydal one morning the weather was a little dull, but the reflections and colours made up for it. I used a longer exposure here to remove any passing cars.
