To fit with the Macro Mondays theme February 20: Member's Choice: B&W, some bubbles inside a glass paperweight.

For Macro Monday's Redux 2017 - My Favorite Theme of the Year I choose the theme 'Eye'

Shot, this with my Helios 44M 58mm and a Raynox to get a real close macro.

This One is Made of Metal as the Brokeh is a christmas tree it could count as that theme also :)

HMM and hope everyone has a great 2018.

I used a Helping Hand and small magnet to hold the blade for the shot then edited out the little bit of support that could be seen at the bottom.

I’ve learned a lot since joining MM and have added side-lighting and a little bokeh to a Fingertip Redux. HMM and Happy New Year!

My Favorite Theme of the 2017 Year - Heart

#Macro Mondays #Redux 2017 - "Contraption" (or alternatively "Made of Metal") A skeleton watch movement to record the passage of time. HMM and a Very Happy New Year to Everyone!

The key to people's hearts, made of metal so it works well for a long time and does not break; unfortunately lost by somebody in the dark wood.

I am the lucky one, I found him, on the last day of the old year 2017.

So the New Year 2018 happyly will start!

2018 week 1 : EVERY END HAS A START: Lost and found

01/365 1/52

It's been hard to pick from such a great year. I found this spiral metal ball in my kitchen and lit it with a single Spotlight from the side. I was going to use candles but the last time we did that I leaned over the book to blow out the candle in the rear and set my beard on fire so I'm avoiding candles for now. Happy Macro Mondays ,Happy New Year!!

All the best to you for 2018

The 1/1/18 theme for #MacroMondays is #Redux2017--MyFavoriteThemeoftheYear, and because this smiling bathroom sink drain presented itself at just the right time for one of MM's more than 50 themes, I just grabbed a quick shot with my cell phone, figuring if I took the time to set up my real camera, the smile would go away. The theme I chose is the May 29 theme, #Pareidolia, a word I'd never heard of until it appeared in Macro Mondays.

Per Merriam Webster, pareidolia is "the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern

The scientific explanation for some people is pareidolia, or the human ability to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness. Think of the Rorschach inkblot test."

The Scottish Thistle reminds me of New Year's Eve "Auld Lang Syne" with its spiky flowers showing nicely in Black n White. Happy Macro Monday New Year. May my Flickr friends have fun with your photos.

I chose November 27: Member's Choice: Games & Game Pieces for the Redux 2017 challenge on MacroMondays. I wanted the 3 aspects of the one in focus, the one in front and the other to the right. I love the texture in the wood grain of the in focus piece.

Redux 2017- Pareidolia. I loved experimenting for this theme, had my cupboards empty for inspiration! I suppose it covers other themes too, bokeh and kitchen but I'm sticking with my favourite Pareidolia.

Revived theme from January 9/17: Member's Choice--Inspired by a Song ("Crystal Snow" by BTS)

I'm a newer member to Macro Mondays, and I'm really glad I found this group! 2017 was probably one of the crazier years I've experienced to date, and I didn't take as many photos as I normally would have liked. Macro Mondays ended up being a great source of inspiration and an awesome way for me to practice new techniques, and I am excited to continue improving into 2018! Happy New Year everyone, and Happy Macro Monday!

Orange & Blue with Bokeh.

Happy New Year Flickr friends!! May your 2018 be filled with many blessings!!

Thank you for your visit!!

I finally got myself a Macro lens so I was excited to revisit the old themes and see the difference it would make. I had attempted to photograph this coin for the Candlelight theme and I felt it just wasn't happening, but the new lens really enabled me to capture the scene I was envisioning. So I got to revisit both an old theme and an old subject matter :)

For Macro Monday : 'Member's Choice: Made of Metal' (Redux)

Believe it or not this clip was a novelty in a Christmas Cracker, it is rather small though and not really fit for purpose. But I thought it would make a good subject to rework March 13th's Member's Choice: Made Of Metal.

Texture! I was very unhappy with my choice for this July theme and welcomed the chance to redo.

I love the texture in this peacock feather.

Happy New Year to all of those who have already seen 2018 come in and Hppy New Year to those of you waiting for it’s arrival.

Happy Macro Monday everyone and I’ll see you all back here in the coming year.

Looking through all the 2017 topics, "Egg" called to me this morning. Maybe it represents the beginning of a new year. Or maybe... its time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great day!

Macro Mondays - Redux 2017 - My Favorite Theme of the Year

I chose to use the theme from August 28: Member's Choice: Abstract Macro. I was busy during the summer and did not get a chance to participate that week. My wife and I are currently volunteering in Dinuba, California and I found a dead owl while walking in the citrus orchards. This is a macro of some of the feathers on the owl. If you look closely, you can see bits of decomposed granite stuck to the feathers. HMM and Happy New Year!

Se vuoi tornare ok, torna davvero

Perché se ritorni tu io ritornerò com’ero

E no non è la vita a toglierci le ali

Affidati alla cura dei ricordi e di chi ami

This weeks 'Macro Mondays' effort, this one could have fitted several of the 2017 themes such as abstract or found in the Kitchen, but I'm going with 'January 9: Member's Choice - Inspired by a Song' hence the title. Happy new year and HMM y'all!

For this challenge, I 3D printed a 2018 monolith and sidelit it with a UV light. The filament is translucent.

One of my favourite theme 2017 was Heart. So this is my contribution to the first theme of 2018. Its by the way Lit By Candle Light and Made of Metal... :-) My best wishes of a happy 2018 to all of you great photographers out there! HMM!

Tenuous, no. I picked a random song and a not so random Star Wars scene and hey presto. The j geils band do carbonite. A match made in heaven……its "Freeze Frame!" :-)

With the arborists at work, a section of tree allows hours of fun at the macro level... Here's where it broke away as they were cutting it, hence a chance to revisit the June 26 theme Broken

Ice Crystals on Bin Lid

This is an attempt at a true non-cropped rust macro shot. When I first submitted an image for the MacroMondays #Rust challenge, I had to submit a crop of an archived image as the challenge date coincided with the Hurricane Irma evacuation of my neighborhood.

Subject: The very rusty end of a threaded shackle-pin. This shackle and the chain to which it is permanently attached makes up the end of some long-replaced anchor rode. It no longer serves a maritime purpose. Now it's used as a glorified paperweight in the yard.

Lens: Tamron AF 70-300mm F4-5.6 LD Macro 1:2, on a 2x teleconverter.

Lighting: One Pentax AF540FGZ is operating as a wireless slave to the camera's built-in master. The strobe is pointed at a the nearby intersection of two white walls, producing a pleasant fill.
