Lightroom 3 beta offers a new Color Noise Reduction processing that is AMAZING! I compared its performance against Lightroom 2.5.
Camera is a Canon 1Ds Mark II at ISO 3200.
Lightroom Settings:
Exposure: +.05
Recovery: 0
Fill: 100
Blacks: 22
Brightness: +50
Contrast: +25
Clarity: +56
Vibrance: 0
Sharpening: 25
Radius: 1
Mask: 0
I applied 25 CNR in Lightroom 3 beta and then did the same in Lightroom 2.5, but then I thought "well Beta 3 uses a different method, so let's see if 2.5 could do just as well at 100 CNR." As you can see, CNR at 100 didn't do much better than 25, and not even close to Lightroom 3 beta. This feature will make Lightroom 3 a worthwhile upgrade.

On to Plan B: here I'm broaching a 3/16 in keyway in a 3/8 in pitch 30 tooth sprocket. It came with a 5/8 in bore and had to key onto a 1/2 in shaft. I first bored it out to 1 in dia so that a keyed sleeve, which I would make next, would have sufficient 'meat' on it to have adequate strength with a pair of 3/16 in keyways in it, one on the o.d. and one on the i.d.
this is a detail of the piece. the overall piece measures 10.25 x 5 inches.
here you can see the detail in the eye, and the color variation there.

this was a tough piece this is a series on one pice of paper there are three of the same prints, it's pretty cool, anyways this was a reduction print, for those who do not know what a reduction print is google it it's really a fun process. The only prob I had was carving away after the first step of the process...
If you didn't know ... how frightening it must feel, to see the moon being chewed away by the darkness. I can't help but feel it's ominous.
Another glass of rioja will probably help with that. And remind me, next Christmas, to ask for a telephoto lens, willya?
