The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) is a specialized agency within the International Chamber of Commerce that works to reduce shipping crime and piracy by monitoring maritime security threats providing intelligence to governments and law enforcement and investigating and prosecuting maritime criminal cases. It operates the world's only 24-hour piracy reporting center which helps to coordinate international responses to attacks and identify and deter criminal activities. The IMB also works to promote compliance with international laws such as the ISPS Code the Maritime Labour Convention and related IMO conventions. Additionally it works with industry stakeholders such as vessel operators port authorities and port security organizations to foster safer shipping environments.
