The Li River or Lijiang River is a river in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. It originates in the Mao'er Mountains in Xing'an County and flows in the general southern direction through Guilin, Yangshuo and Pingle.

In Pingle the Li River merges with two other streams, and continues south as the Gui River, which falls into the Xi Jiang, the western tributary of the Pearl River, in Wuzhou.

The 437-kilometer course of the Li and Gui Rivers is flanked by green hills. Cormorant fishing is often associated with the Lijiang (see bird intelligence). Its unusual karst topography hillsides have often been compared to those at Halong Bay, Vietnam.

Brandenburg Gate before 1958 with red flag. In 1950, the relics of the blown up copper Quadriga were removed and a red flag was waving there instead. But in 1956 the renovation of the gate and its sculpture was decided by the East-Berlin municipal authorities. In 1957 the West-Berlin senate granted the money for the melting of a new bronze Quadriga from a preserved old cast. In July 1958, the restoration of the Brandenburg Gate had been terminated, and on 1st-2nd August1958, the quadriga had been built up but was removed the next night (2nd - 3rd August), and stored in the Marstall. There the prussian iron cross and eagle were dismantled on September 16th 1958. On September 27th, 1958, the quadriga was re-installed, but this time without prussian cross and eagle. Aber es lag viel Papier auf den Tischen. Ich suchte nach einem, das sauber genug wäre zum Auswischen. Dabei fiel mir die gesperrte Überschrift auf einem Fetzen auf:

„Die Spartakusgruppe

Berlin, 13. November. Die Spartakusgruppe, die bisher der Unabhängigen Sozialdemokratischen Partei angehörte, beabsichtigt, sich in einer öffentlichen Versammlung am Donnerstagabend in den Sophiensälen als selbständige politische Partei zu konstituieren. Vermutlich v/erden als Redner Karl Liebknecht und Rosa Luxemburg auftreten."

Als ich vom Essen zurückkam, standen einige vor unserm Viehwagen und unterhielten sich mit einem schlanken Soldaten, der eine rote Binde am linken Arm hatte. Der sagte:

„Die schwarzweißrote Fahne gibt's nicht mehr. Wir haben jetzt die rote Fahne!"

„Weißt du auch, was die rote Fahne bedeutet?" fragte Höhle feindlich. „Das ist die Fahne des Bluts!"

„Nein, das ist die Fahne der Freiheit!" antwortete der Rote empört.

„Freiheit ist Quatsch! Davon haben sie auch bei der Französischen Revolution geschwatzt, und was ist draus geworden? - Und von da kommt auch die Blutfahne!"

„Wir haben keine Blutfahne! Du bist nur ein Reaktionär!"

„Ach was, Reaktionär! Auch eure Armbinde hat die Blutfarbe!"

„Wir wollen kein Blut! Wir wollen die Befreiung vom Kapitalismus!"

„Und deshalb bewacht ihr uns dann mit geladenem Gewehr? Sind wir denn Kapitalisten?"

„Eure Truppe hat schon üble Sachen gemacht, im Ruhrgebiet! - Und wir sind hier Katholiken!"

Höhle schob sein Gesicht dicht vor das des Roten. „Glaubst du denn, dass wir euch protestantisch machen wollen? Uns ist es ganz gleich, woran ihr glaubt! Und wenn ihr 'n Nachttopf anbetet!"

„Aber ihr seid eine Fronttruppe! Vielleicht wollt ihr den Kaiser wieder einsetzen?"

„Wir? - Bei euch spukt's wohl da oben!" Er deutete sich an die Stirn.

Ich stieg in den Wagen. Wenn schon die mit roten Binden solchen Unsinn verzapfen von Katholizismus! Aber es musste doch etwas am Sozialismus sein! Wie konnte sonst jeder davon reden?

My wife and I liked Red Flag 21-1 so much we decided to check out 21-2. We knew it was going to be smaller so we only stayed for one full day. What we didn't count one was the nasty weather. Blah grey sky, very windy, and cold for the morning takeoffs. Takeoffs were to the SW so we joined up with a bunch of other spotters to watch the planes leave on Cheyenne Avenue. When the fighters take off on the 21R they bank right above your head so you get a mix of belly and side profiles - but it is a cool experience. Tankers and bombers tend to use 21L so you have a better angle but if there were no clouds you would be shooting into the sun. Despite this we had a good time. After the morning rush headed out we moved to the Speedway area for the recovery. All in all a very good day, even if we were turning blue and felt sandblasted.

I took these photos in early March 2021 near Las Vegas, Nevada.
