Royal Air Force Senior Aircraftsman Samuel White, a weapons technician assigned to 1 (Fighter) Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland, prepares a Typhoon FGR4 fighter to receive a live bomb load prior to a Red Flag 15-1 training sortie at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Jan 27, 2015. Conflict scenarios set into motion during Red Flag exercises afford some pilots the rare opportunity to drop live ordinance in a training environment. Along with the F-111s, the RC-135 was at the top of my Red Flag "want to shoot" list. Caught this one leaving just in time - it was the first of the evening launches and the last aircraft to fly before the sun went down.

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska (Aug. 6, 2020) - A U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor aircraft assigned to the 3rd Wing approaches for landing at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 6, 2020, during Red Flag-Alaska 20-3. Red Flag-Alaska is a Pacific Air Forces-directed field training exercise where aircrews fly under simulated air combat conditions. This allows those involved to improve interoperability through the exchange of tactics, techniques and procedures. RF-A 20-3 was adapted to execute the training needed to maintain mission readiness and lethality while mitigating the potential spread of COVID-19. Sec of Defence makes a quick visit to Nellis AFB during Red Flag 2016-1.

On most KC-135 tankers, the fuel system can either offload fuel to another airplane, or feed the airplane's own engines. When the SR-71 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft entered service, however, it burned a different fuel from regular jets, and so required KC-135 tankers with separate fuel storage. Tankers modified to fuel the SR-71 were designated KC-135Q. When the SR-71 was retired, these tankers underwent the same CFM-56 re-engine modification as the rest of the KC-135 fleet, and were redesignated KC-135T. I believe they are now no different operationally from the standard KC-135R.
