Re-opening event of the Nine Mile Picnic Ground
Closed since 2017, the Nine Mile Picnic Ground on the highly visited Sandia Ranger District went thru a redesign and renovation with funds awarded thru the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
Now that restoration work has been completed, visitors will enjoy:
•Site road improvements and additional parking
•New picnic and utility/serving tables
•New sustainable restrooms
•Hardened walkways
•Accessible amenities
•Improved visitor information
Well-maintained infrastructure enables safe and healthy visitor use and enjoyment, which is essential to ensuring that the benefits of National Forest System lands are accessible to all.
The Nine Mile Picnic Ground is located just off the Sandia National Scenic Byway (NM 536) on the Sandia Ranger District. This developed recreation site offers picnicking opportunities, with tables and restrooms as well as a trailhead for the Challenge Trail, #5233. Activities in this area often include wildlife viewing, hiking, biking and viewing scenery.

Fall 2010, Graphic Design II: In this course we were asked to redesign an existent brand. I chose Clif Bar and their namesake energy bar. I decided to redirect the focus of the design to the busy older women who are mothers, businesswomen, and the like. Women who multi task and never stop on a daily basis. I wanted a beautiful clean look that was purely typographic.
My webbly friend Sheena gave me a quick basic tutorial on the drupal content management system she used to build the site, but it'll take me a while to get the hang of it entirely. You can already find most of the older Do posts there, though the formatting got weird during the import process.
The new site also has its own forum, finally hosted on my own webspace. (We're still working on implementing tags and so forth.) Plus links to all the other community stuff.
Still tinkering, tinkering. If you want to know more about Sheena's work, check out www.coalmarch.com/
