Unfortunately I do not have a copy of the original design. All I can say is that is was well worth redesigning. It was very cluttered, had too many different fonts, and an awkward slogan.
I outlined the original logo for Boutique at The Ridge from their website and made my own variations. I really like this silhouette. Cutting down on words, and distracting images help this ad a lot. Dare to be Rare is a more appropriate slogan I created.

I put this together in January, along with a few other ideas, for a blog redesign I never had time to undertake. Now that my server's died and it's late June, I've got a fine opportunity to start anew. What do you think?

The image in the top left corner is the logo for the series (reading crossed out). So I kept the original colours, and the contrasting effect is quite good.
However, the original ad is conflicted because it is very text heavy and promotes an event that doesn’t involve a lot of reading… Ironic? So designed iconic illustrations to represent each element and to complement the logo. The result is alternating high contrast black and white, and strong horizontal spaces connected by circular images to create better flow.
I saw ToxicNebulae on Tumblr.com com complain about the erasure of the woman of color, Fatima Al-Fihri, in a Now You Know post. So I created this response to help fight the erasure.

Google is testing a new layout for search results. It appeared to me as I searched from a local school's computer to get to one of favorite blog site. Apparently it also has appeared for others randomly, which I suppose Google is giving a sneak preview to randomly chosen ip (users).
In response to mac's screencap: how the BBC redesign looks on my iBook.
I've turned dock hiding on to allow the full width, but it would otherwise clip the right edge. And since non-UKians get ads, the biggest annoyance is that about 40% of screen estate is pure header.
Took this today testing a manual lens (Should have removed the filter). Pleased with the progress so far and I got my lost siding back but much longer.
