I dived deep into her abyss.
Then swirled my scepter around casting a spell.
Writing my name inside her cave with each crashing wave.
Soaked in her glory.
I seeked to find purity.
She took me on a journey.
Wrapped her legs around me.
Pulled me closer to her love
I bowed down and proceeded to feast upon her pearl.
Until I felt the earth move.

We had a great gig in Cardiff the other night watching the Wailers. I'm off again tonight with Louise to see Panic Shack, so that should be fun. This was a shot from the other afternoon when I was trying to trap the clouds on the wet sand. Redemption Song is by Bob Marley and the Wailers.
UP 4014 rolls north out of downtown Houston, heading up the West Belt Subdivision beneath the Collingsworth Street overpass. Today's run is between Houston and Beaumont (train PHOBT-18), part of the Big Boy's 2021 tour to New Orleans.
This marks my 2nd attempt shooting 4014 at this location. During the Southwest tour in late 2019, I was in position to shoot the train here under the downtown skyline- however, near-freezing temperatures that morning caused the engine to emit enormous clouds of steam, obscuring most of the skyline in the background. When the 2021 schedule was first announced earlier that summer, I immediately knew that the Collingsworth shot would be a must-do. Surely enough, crowds were very light at this location, and clouds kept away from the sun long enough for the train to make its appearance, all allowing me to clean up quite nicely.

Warbonnet-painted BNSF 783 leads a short work train extra west past the first set of semaphores south of Las Vegas, NM, en route to Albuquerque on the Glorieta Subdivision.
I initially made the trip up this way to get a couple of photo angles I'd had my eye on for the east & west bound Southwest Chief, figuring the work train I had shot coming into Las Vegas on Tuesday was long gone. Upon discovering it still tied down in the siding there, I elected to hang out until either it left or # 4 showed up. Fortunately, I was able to determine that a crew was on the train and waiting to depart behind the eastbound Chief. I debated on where to even attempt photos, as the scene here looked very similar to the last time I caught a freight on this stretch...a bright background and clouds blocking the sun. Lo and behold, the clouds which had been dogging the area all afternoon cleared out just in time for this shot, and the chase was on!
To the little birdies (both on here & otherwise), THANK YOU!

"C'è un'estasi che caratterizza il culmine della vita e oltre la quale la vita non può innalzarsi. E il paradosso di vivere è tale che questa estasi arriva quando si è sommamente vivi e viene come un totale oblio dell'essere vivi... Stava scandagliando le profondità della sua natura e di parti della sua natura ancora più profonde di lui, le stesse che risalivano nel grembo del Tempo.“ Jack London, "Il richiamo della foresta".
After a strong, but brief, thunderstorm passed by I went back to Proctor for some golden light and the RFGs were looking out for me as someone had closed the nose door AND a Minntac stone train was departing at the perfect time. If at first you don't succeed…..
Redemption: putting the burden / on someone else / or abstinence from thought.

After what was supposed to be their first revenue run failed spectacularly about a month earlier, new Amtrak ALC-42 Chargers 300 and 301 finally got their redemption and departed Chicago with train 7, the westbound 'Empire Builder', on-time and without any PTC issues (so far). Also, check that flag. Chicago stands with Ukraine, and so do I. Fuck Putin.

Nestled near the sea, where the cliffs of Frogmore Cottage meet the shore, stands a majestic oak tree, its gnarled branches reaching skyward in silent reverence. This ancient sentinel has stood for centuries, perhaps even five hundred years, though time's passage has blurred the exact count, leaving its true age shrouded in mystery. Throughout generations, the tree has borne witness to the ebb and flow of life along the coast, its weathered bark etched with cryptic markings akin to scars from the distant past. Among these enigmatic carvings, some words in particular haunted the imagination of those who chanced upon them: You mocked my tears. These words, etched into the oak's rugged surface, their author, the intended recipient and the tale they held were lost to the depths of time. And, as the salty breeze whispered through the oak's branches and the waves crashed against the rocky shore below, the mystery of the engraved words persisted, weaving its enigmatic story into the fabric of Frogmore's coastal lore.
What nobody in Frogmore Cottage could imagine was that, despite it was a mystery that had been talked about for generations, this was not a concluded story. A fisherman, upon returning at dawn from work at sea, and drawn by an inexplicable urge to explore the weathered trunk, stumbled upon a new revelation: as if a response to the ancient lament, freshly carved into the bark beneath the words of old, now appeared three simple words—I forgive you. Word spread as wildfire in the Cottage, and most saw the appearance of these words as a symbol of redemption, a chance for healing old wounds and bridging the divides of the past. And so, beneath the watchful gaze of the ancient oak, the enigmatic story found a new chapter, one of reconciliation, understanding, and the enduring power of forgiveness to heal the deepest wounds of the heart.

🌐 The old oak in Frogmore Cottage is revered in the Shire and reputed to have healing properties. Fatigued traveller journeying through the Shire, you will do well resting beneath its branches.
A backwards bend of the spine, a reverent skyward tilt of the head... And with that, he knew mercy once more.

For Steam Sunday here's another shot of Reading and Northern 2102 that unquestionably puts on the best steam show in the east these days. It's such a great show that I returned for my second time in only three weeks to see her!
This shot was taken exactly five years and one week from the last time I tried this angle with steam. That time Pacific number 425 was leading and the same group of freinds and I were epically 'CFed' as told here: flic.kr/p/2k3TCPs
This was another nailbitingly close shot but this time the train gods favored us and merciful redemption was ours!
As for this run, it was a special operated on behalf of the Mountain Top Rotary Club and made a 90 minute trip from Penobscot to Jim Thorpe with a 5 hr layover there before returning north. The train was a bit smaller than other recent runs featuring only 11 cars (including a power car and diner) trailing the big 4-8-4 which was built in the Reading Company's own shops in 1945 using parts from a former 76-foot Class I-10sa consolidation 1923 Baldwin locomotive. The RDG created a fleet of 30 middleweight engines in the T-1 series capable of both freight and passenger assignments.
Here is the return trip just moments out of Jim Thorpe as it crosses the Lehigh River on a former Central Railroad of New Jersey Railroad bridge that was abandoned in December 1971 following a wreck only a few months before CNJ ended all operations in the state of Pennsylvania on March 31, 1972 and was restored by the RBMN more than three decades later in 2003. The one time double track bridge now features a wonderful paved bike path where the second main once was. This was once the CNJ's mainline to the Ashely hump yard in Wilkes-Barre but is now known as RBMN's Jim Thorpe Branch Wye Track, and the train is at about MP 0 as it approaches RIVER interlocking where they will entire the RBMN's Lehigh Division maiinline.

This Lemonade Project isn't uploaded in any particular order. That's because there isn't any particular order to grief, you just go up, down and all around, you find peace and the next day you're right back where you started.
"The only way to break an ENFP down enough to grieve is to seriously, totally, tragically destroy a value they held dear or to destroy someone they hold dear."
"With other ENFPs I’ve observed or conversed with, loss is processed with art and creation. It seems Introverted Feeling (Fi) is sometimes nonverbal, and needs to be channeled through visual or performing arts for us to consolidate information fully."
I found the quotes above on Quora, answers other ENFPs gave about grief that really resonated.

I found the truth beneath your lies
And true love never has to hide
I'll trade your broken wings for mine
I've seen your scars and kissed your crime
They say true love's the greatest weapon
To win the war caused by pain,
But every diamond has imperfections
But my love's too pure to watch it chip away
Oh nothing real can be threatened
True love breathes salvation back into me
With every tear came redemption
And my torturer became my remedy.
How I missed you, my love.
