While trying to get shots of this Red-tailed Hawk, a Blue Jay comes into the picture and chases my subject off. Treated with Halo in HDR to hi-lite detail.

Couldn't tell if the Jay actually touched him but it certainly got his attention.

We've become addicted to this webcam, a red-tailed hawk nest on the ledge of a building on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison.

When we first came across it, it was just red-tailed hawk mom (or dad — they take turns) sitting on eggs — not a lot of action. Now that there are babies, we can't turn it off. Mom and dad fly in with a steady stream of unidentifiable dead critters to feed them. It's fascinating to watch.

Daniel got to see the first chick hatch. We're now up to two chicks, and with still one egg unhatched.

Very strong wind today - and two red-tailed hawks were surfing the strong currents; sometimes almost stationary and at other times wildly thrown about. This image is uncropped.

Watched this Red-Tail like a hawk for about twenty minutes, getting ready for the inevitable take off shot. When the time came that he left the perch, I very nearly missed the shot. I got the lift off, but no flight shot. Oh my, they are fast!

There were other red-tailed hawks in the area, two that I heard and after his meal he called back a couple of times and then flew off to a tree 300 yds away. He had his breakfast and I had a treat.
