We got to really enjoy a small group of Red-necked Phalaropes at Carmel Beach.

These juvenile Red-necked Phalaropes were found at Wakarusa Wastewater Treatment Facility on 8/15/13 and again on 8/16/13. These photos were taken at about noon on 8/16/13 by J & E Harley.

Loved this guy....Wendy was walking up ahead of me crossing over the bridge on this creek when I saw this guy floating below her. It floated right below her feet.

Yes, he was right in front of me. Not standing still (hence the lack of sharpness here), but right in front. Fill in baby talk about how cute he was right here ____ .

Breeding plumage in Alaska in June, a female I believe, Phalarope females are prettier than the males, unlike most birds where the breeding male plumage is more prominent.
