Another spring picture, of what seems I can't get enough. This picture is a HDR processed pic (act.5) to show the intense colors of the red beech versus the green of the others trees. In reality (with normal eye view), this hdr gives a better idea, than a common picture.

Macaws are the largest parrots in the world -- the body of the scarlet macaw from beak to tail can be as long as 33 inches. This beautiful macaw has a creamy white, almost featherless face, with bright red plumage covering most of its body, wings and long tail. Brilliant blue and yellow feathers also adorn the lower wings. The bird's strong beak is adapted to breaking hard nuts found in the rainforest.
Tramea onusta -- male
The other red dragons in our yard are much smaller and seldom fly high. This is the 1st adult male of the species I've ever been able to look down on.
It was windy and cold the day when I captured this photo. I had to shoot this Red Robin through some branches of a tree.

Just before sunrise so a high ISO.

When fall comes calling - Red Deers, New Zealand
Red Deer - Cervus elaphus - is one of the largest deer species.
Red deer were brought to New Zealand by European settlers in the 1850's and 1860's, along with seven other species of deer: Wapiti, Sika, Sambar, Rusa, Fallow, White-tail, and Axis. Today, red deer is the most widespread species, existing in the wild and on farms on both the North and South Islands.
hope all is well in your world ... catch up soon!

Presuming this is a male speckled bush cricket, in my back garden on Crocosmia. Loving all the insect life that is now making appearances - interesting wasps and large dragonflies are now also frequenting the garden on their hunts

Strait from the camera...
Yes it was red... I didn't play with it in the Photoshop (except for the signature and frame..)
All I did was use a slow shutter speed (1/25), and used a bit high saturation on the Canon...
And it got blood red:)

90 "comments" has been erased.
Because;
-Invites without comments
-Award codes without comments
-And because of these I couldn't read the REAL comments in all that clutter,
especially due to the Flickrs New Page.
And I thank to every one who did write something,
really it made me happy to see so much..
I think this is one of the most striking birds in Western Washington. Unfortunately, I've only seen them a couple of times in the yard, and I think they prefer more mature forest than is typical in my neighborhood. This one was at the McLane Creek Nature Trail, Olympia.
Note (January, 2017): While cleaning the roof and raingutters, I discovered a series of sapwells on our plum tree. Maybe there are more of these around my neighborhood than I thought.
Getting this guy almost made me late for my class, had to pop back up the hill to catch the late afternoon sun.
