This is an edited vertical shot similar to a horizontal crop shot I posted earlier. Unfortunately, this Billy posed on a ledge with an annoying telephone wire just below him. I am just getting to cloning the wire out. I made it back to Jackson and on a previous recomendation of Daryl Hunter, I decided to go through Alpine, Wyoming in route ~ just a little sidetrack to my plan, for a chance encounter with Rocky Mountain Goats. Once again, I owe thanks of these Rocky Mountain Goat shots to Daryl: www.flickr.com/people/daryl-hunter/ . I really appreciate your visits and comments!

On April 9th, that makes a year since I first post on flickr. After more than 45 templates from three diferent country, we've reach together the step of 75 followers ! You're awesome !

You can count on two more incoming US templates during next weeks before switching to United Kingdom.

Again, thanks a lot to everyone who support my work by giving feedbacks, advice or recomendations or simply just watching it.

Desert-Fox Customs.

Not as big as the Darn Big Duracell I recently posted photos of (seen at the Whitehaven Sears), but at least here I was also able to make use of some decent aliteration with this title as well! And on that note, here's another recommended series of sweet sounds for your satisfaction (a.k.a., the weekly list of music recomendations)!

I want to take a second to share my newest venture. I started a Youtube channel all about old films. My friends always want to watch movies with me or get recomendations for old films and all the fun facts. Check it out if you're interested! I hope to put out a video a week. Getting some momentum with viewers would help!

Not exactly sure where this was stashed away, but this it's one of my brother's old cub scout patches. I don't remember going to a Southland Mall Scout Show back in 1979 myself, so perhaps I sat that one out. Southland Mall is quite a different place these days, and even more so now, with the recent closure of it's Sears store.

Lastly for tonight: I'd always said I was going to do my own version of music recommendations, but never got around to it, until now that is! Since external linking in flickr is sometimes a bit more of a challenge (or a total "pain in the a--", depending on your point of view!), I'll take the much easier (copycat) route of Retail Retell, and just list the songs, leaving it up to anyone that may want to look them up for themselves. These are actual selections I've recently listened to, taken from my phone's large randomized playlist. The format I've chosen to go with below is - "Artist (Album) - Song". Hope you find these first 15 selections to your liking, I may have another list ready by the weekend :)

KISS (Psycho Circus) - Dreamin'

Seether (Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces) - Waste

Aerosmith (Aerosmith) - One Way Street*

Five Finger Death Punch (And Justice for None) - Top of the World

Elton John (Tumbleweed Connection) - Burn Down the Mission

Popcaan** (Where We Come From) - Waiting So Long

Jack White (Lazaretto) - Temporary Ground

The Police (Ghost in the Machine) - Demolition Man

Red (of Beauty and Rage) - Falling Sky

Journey (Raised On Radio) - Girl Can't Help It

Jethro Tull (Essential Jethro Tull) - Living in the Past

Halestorm (Vicious) - Skulls

Rush (Clockwork Angels) - Headlong Flight***

*Extremely vintage Aerosmith!

**Popcaan is a Jamaican artist. Most of his music I've heard thus far is fairly laid-back sounding.

***Awesome Rush, featuring some of the best drum work in recorded history!

I love my new iphone! Took this one on my lunch break.

Has anyone got any recomendations of any photography apps I should get? I'll have to be careful to still use my DSLR and not just use my iphone for all my 366 shots

I simply like this design of the 70's on those KW's. The paint job always added a lot to this trucks.

December 1988 – January 1989: Being young and independent I took several weeks off duty. Since I got some diesel in my blood from birth on I got to love trucks. On my journey from San Diego to Independence, Iowa, I took a row of pictures, mostly from semi trucks. All those are scans, so please excuse the low quality. Eventually I will convert the photo negatives into digital pics. So far I don’t no how to do that. Recomendations are welcome.

Day 49 first day able to go out for walk in more than a month and a half. A lot of people but wanted to see the sea. Went back home soon as there was too much people not all of them taking the basic recomendations seriously.

On my journey in 1988 I had the idea of the man behind the wheel for my shots. To bad I could not get more of those fellows in front of their rig. Since no truck on the road should be moving without a driver.... Thats like an artist without a stage.

He is my favorite guy. Not only does he provide lots of confidence and pride in what he is doing. I also like the shadow of his head on the hood of the tractor.

Due to the critics and recomendations I decided to edit and upload it again. This is the 2.0 version of Seagulls' Sunset

I hope you like it.

It will be much to long and sad a story, to explain why I headed out the door, dressed like this going to the pride. But let´s just say, that after arriving at my SUPER CD´er friend, I could finally relax and put on the final makeup, as I had actually left my home without eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. I was quite aware that this wasen´t my finest visual hour as Lisa, ”but you can´t look like a million dollars all the time.” (I said to my self in weak comfort) lighting a joint to make the painful truth go away. ”You look... so natural Lisa, with your own hair. I like you SOOO much better without a wig. ” My friend said and meant it, which comforted me quite a lot :o)

We took pictures, set up a little studio in her appartment and shoot away. But everytime she looked at the result, she shook her head in disbelief. ”No good Lisa, somehow I can´t capture how you look IRL. They come out ALL wrong, you look like a guy. - The funny thing is... YOU DON`T IRL, not even close!!”

It can be VERY hard judging pictures by yourself, I have great faith in her oppinion, so even though we shoot many pictures, I choose not showing even a single one. But I was a little frustrated... to be honest.

We where going to the ”Drag night”, a yearly thing on the central square of copenhagen in connection with the ”Pride”. There the most BEAUTIFUL drag queens of our small country, flash their beauty on stage at the most public square, one after the other. - We where late for the show allready, talking and smoking time away, shooting pictures and having fun. As time passed by, getting late for the show, we looked at each other, agreeing that ”Drag queens are NOTHING like us ”outgoing freewheeling” girls. They are ”show girls”, diva´s or queens. Nothing like us ordinary ”girls.” - So we missed the show feeling that we didn't REALLY miss anything... well.. important.

So we was at the central square when it all ”closed down” and people where leaving. I was hungry and persuaded Belinda to go to Burger King for a bite ”My treat!” :o) And so we did. ”Crispy chicken” has my recomendation henceforth, I MUST say!

But.. well.. it´s like this. - I like men, but thursday the sex clubs close very early. ”Could we.. perhaps just drop by quickly at Club XXDark?” I asked, and my friend thought that was a GREAT idea :o)

I got lucky! :oP And arriving at the club, everyone was talking about ”the new T-girl” who was there. I of cause was quite curious and imagine my surprise to find myself looking at a person I saw some time ago at a ”course” I attended. At the time I saw her and attended the course, I was dressed like a guy and felt it would be awkward to present my self as ”the guy who was also a girl...” but I did notice she was a T-girl and how beautiful she was at the time. - ”You remember me?” I asked smiling the biggest smile in history. She looked at me curious for three seconds and exploded into a smile. We had SOOOO much fun the three of us, and leaving we decided to go to warehouse 9 as I was sure that ”something was happening there to night.”

There WAS... but arriving I thought to my self...where are all the girls? And we found out in the door that today was ”Bear party” - Damn I laughed.. perhaps not QUITE what would be in the best interest for all :o)

So we headed on to Cozy. The hottest most lively LBGT club in the state of Denmark.

Guess who was there? ALL the drag queens from the show.... making me feel quite... unattractive, ordinary and boring :o(

An army (small one) of Joisel´s rats.

There are all kinds of papers and paper sizes, lokta, printer, unryu and some other ones.

My recomendation for this model is PVA treated lokta, 30 cm square.

This is one of my favorite models, and while they are folded acording to diagram, the tails of all of them have been modified to be closed-back. This also makes the tail colour changed.

Maybe my favorite lens i have ever bought thanks to my friend BJ and his awe inspiring work he's done with his and under his recomendation this lens has truly been my best friend since i got it last month. I don't think I will ever part with it, unless can makes a f/1.4 with IS, then maybe.

Submitted for March's THC # 10 - Who you gonna call? - Well I'm gonna call ghost hunters. ( Don't forget you have to ding it to the tune of ghost busters)

Submitted for March's MSH # 13 - Fright - Some of the stories in there, especially in the beginning, scared the pants off me. An innocent ghost or poltergeist that was hanging around and played little tricks or occasionally materialized and caused no harm probably would not bother me. But throw in some spirit out for revenge, a few demons, and a possession or two that makes your head spin and you vomit green goo and that is where I draw the line. There are a few stories in there like that that frightened me a bit.

Submitted for March's TMSH # 14 - Cock and Bull Story (An unbelievable tale) - Or in this case unbelievable tales. This is what my husband says. He believes that EVERYTHING has a scientific reasoning and does not believe in ghosts, spirits, or anything of that nature.

Thanks to midgefrazel for the recommendation. I am thoroughly enjoying this one. I would also like to thank her for my sleepless nights as well where I can't put the book down and when I do I scare the crap out of myself. Do you think I could read the book during the day..Oh hell no. I have to read it at night after everyone has gone to bed in a dimly lit living room so when I hear some strange sound I look around all shift eyes waiting for something to jump out of the shadows at me...Yeah Good times..Good Times.

I don't normally watch the show because I really don't want to listen to my husband nag about how ghosts don't exist and how everything can be explained scientifically...blah, blah, blah. You get the drift right?

Anyhoo The book is about 2 Roto Rooter plumbers by day and a team of ghost hunters by night that go by the name of T.A.P.S (see title for what they stand for). They and their team go into places that are supposedly haunted and investigate using all sorts of paraphernalia. They take video, photos, and voice recordings all those sorts of things. After they are done with the investigations they go over their data and analyze it to see if they picked up anything un-natural. Then they go back to their clients and let them know the results. Some of the clients find having a ghost interesting and choose to leave it alone. Others, not impressed by the whole situation, decided they want it gone. It depends on what the ghost is doing. One client of theirs had a ghost of a little boy that liked to play with his dog in the middle of the night. His dog had squeaky toes and the owner would take the toys and store them away in the night. He would wake up the next morning and the toys would be out on the floor. It kept happening night after night. Occasionally he would wake up the next morning and find new toys with the old ones. So he called in TAPS and had them investigate and what they found was that it was a ghost of a little boy who was getting the toys out of the closet and playing with the dog. He decided to keep the ghost around since it was not doing any harm.

In one story one of their members had to do an exorcism on a girl. They also talked about how one couple called them in complaining that they thought their wall was haunted and it turned out the couple had rigged something to make it look like something was in their walls making noises.

It's a fun book and I'm somewhere near the middle of it. If you like stories on ghosts or true hauntings this would make an excellent choice.

(Res 640x480 or 320x240)

Although this camera is old I just had to write a review on it. It has been a very dependable unit for me for many years and deserves some credit. This camera was ahead of its time. It has features thatmany digital cameras of today do not have !!!

Although I will compare features of this camera to units of today My Review ratings are going to be based on 5-6 years ago when I purchased this unit for $700.

For the record I do not even consider this camera as a recomendation for today at all. it is a BAD buy by current standards UNLESS

You need pics for things like website or ebay OR Macro Shots.

For these type of uses it is GREAT even by today's standards.

Also if you have anolder laptop with NO PCMCIA or USB but have a serial and do not want to carry extra junk around All you need for this is its serial cable.

For some things I even still use this camera today !!!

First I bought this camera because it was the best of what was available at the time (hence the $700 price tag)

Its only real lacking (and a serious one) is NO flash. Although if there is any reasonable amount of light this camera's CCD does a wonderful job of taking advantage of it. Indoor photography is easily possible and practical as long as you keep certain things in mind. The shutter speed will be much longer and you do need at least SOME general ambient light. A dim room is a goner. (flashlight helps though)

I had even purchased a hot shoe flash and rigged a SWITCH for it. Another failing of this camera is the LCD only viewfinder runs at 7 frames a second. This turned out to be a blessing.

Because of this I was with practice able to Activate my Rigged up Hot Shoe Flash with a button to set it off and CAPTURE the flash with the QV-100 and able to capture some VERY nice well exposed indoor shots even in near dark conditions !! It takes practice but I got good very fast :-)

The resolution is either VGA or Half VGA 640x480 or 320x240

Obviously I never used thehalf VGA unless I had to. Another very nice feature of this camera is you can REDUCE a VGA picture to a half VGA picture AFTER you had taken it inside the camera to further clear space for more pictures. THIS was a very nice feature.

I have to say though I rarely need more than the 64 shots the 4 meg of internal memory could capture.

I built myself a cardboard box computer in the summer of 1997 with a TV out cable (no need for a monitor) so I could take more than 64 pictures with the camera when we went on vacations to florida.

I came home with over 800 pictures !!!

This Camera uses a serial connection that is NOT exactly fast but not dreadfully slow (remember I am comparing as if this is 1995) About 10-15 mintutes at most!

It also ahs a very cool TV out connection that I used extensively (more on this later)

You could activate a SLIDE show feature in play mode to automatically scroll through the pictures)

The swiveling lens (more than 180 degrees of swivel) was GREAT

I could Angle the the lens in such a way that I could hold the camera Above my head to get OVER a crowd and yet still see the screen so I could FRAME the shot I wanted and not depend on luck. VERY cool I have used this a LOT

This also allows you to do the opposite. Hold the camera down just below your CHEST to make is easier to see the SCREEN in sunlight yet still point the lens Forward.

The Macro Mode is AMAZING I do not know exactly its limits But I easily git within an inch or 2 of objects to capture magnificant macro shots of objects butterflies in cypres cardens etc..

This camera is also GREAT for wildlife shows. Every eyar we attend the Harrisburg Farm show in PA. I can go right up to Owl Birds Reptiles etc.. Whatever is there and catch close macro shots without disturbing the animal and causing it to bight. The camera is absolutely silent in operation and with NO flash to accidentally set off. I surprised even the animal tenders who were leary of me getting so close.

As for Printing. Believe it or not the prints are not entirely too bad. I call them "good" enough. They will not make even close to a photographic for are WONDERFUL for reports etc.. I have even used glossy paper to make 80% of an 8x10 that was very respectable.

Now for thehard part. the newer your printer the WORSE the output !!! YEs I did not mistype that. The Older your printer (to a point) the better the output.

I have a HP 932C that make incredible 2400 dpi photo quality pictures and the casio images are HORRIBLE ON IT.

YET on my HP660C they look not all that bad. the lower resolution of the older printer "smooths" out a lot of the imperfections in the highly compressed image.

The newer printers print every single imperfection and jaggy.

Some Cons for today are it proprietary format. a .cam file for each iamge.

IE you HAVE to use there software. Thankfully it is a VERY small program. I think it only took something like 3 or 4 meg of HD space.

IF I recall right it also aloud you to BATCH export images to almost any format you want from JPG to TIFF (point ?? :-)

It also had a VERY important other feature I liked.

You could UPLOAD back to the camera !!!!!! It even let you open OTHER format images and IMPORT them a little red BOX would appear and you could drag it around to crop (to proper aspect ratio for camera) to selct which part of the image you wanted to be uploaded !! This was amazing! !!

In class I would upload whole presentations to the camera and I would hold the camera in my hand (about size in L&W of a palm pilot) I just thumb through the images to make them appear on the TV in my presentation.

THIS WAS AMAZING. I could even SAVE these presentation for later use since they wer ejust cam files not and the software stored them as ALBUMS

Wonderful feature that KEEPS this unit useful even today !!!

This is also a TOUGH as nails unit (or I was really lucky) since I dropped it on CONCRETE many times without bad effect !!

Now the camer is whearing thin. For some reason it will no longer take CLEAR pictures (dropped once to many times ??) but I can still use it since I can upload imges to it and still use it as a presentation tool.

Simply a wonderful unit.

It has the ability to Digitally ZOOM on the screen 2x. If you want to see something in more detail or to check to subtle BLurring that might need a reshooting of the image. Even besides that the LCD was of such high quality and so SHARP that you would usually notice a poorly taken pricture immediately.

It had feature to allow more picture show on screen at once from 4 to 9 or 1 at a time. You could then SELECT a picture in this Multi Frame mode and bring it to full size.

This nice feature also translated to the TV when it was plugged in to one.

To have a slide show just hold down the advance button for a few seconds to start the show. Press it again to STOP where you are.

Sadly it did not transmit a live feed to the TV in record mode. Only stills in PLAY mode.

I also Experience the problem of accidentally turning on the camera when sliding it into its case. You learn to be careful.

Battery Hog is the descriptor of the day (not NEARLY as bad as my New PDC-700 though!!!)

With average daily use (I take LOTS of pictures) I got about 2-4 days out of a set of good alkalines.

Here is the kicker. This camera unlike others take FULL advantage of Lithium cells. I regularly get a FULL MONTH out of it with Energizer Lithiums. !!! Even though they are $10 for a set of 4 (then) Do the math and it is cheaper. The camera is also MUCH ligter with the lithiums in it instead of the Alkalines.

When I went to florida My first 600 pictures were on a single set of Lithium (viscious LCD usage control IE I tend to leave cameraon between shots)(and I even did 4 downloads with that) most downloads were done with the AC connected!!

Alkalines will usually fill the camera but usually not last for a full download.

Boot up is rather quick but refresh between shots is 7 seconds.

The shutter is also isntant Press it and the picture is taken. and in BRIGHT conditions it has a suprisingly fast shutter (up to 1/10,000sec)

If you want just Lower res macro or ebay web usage and don't mind slight longer but simple downloads (the software is actually very nice) this is a VERY good camera and This is even proven by the fact that is still fetches a decent price on ebay. I regularly see it fetsh $100 to $150 on ebay. Although now with the onset of much cheaper cameras it is going down. If you can use it and can get it cheap I advise buying it.

This would actually also make a VERY good kids camera considering the price if you get it used. A Quality camera kids can enjoy Not the toy junk selling nowadays.

It is now pouring rain we had planned to go on a walk up the Glacier but it has been cancelled due to flooding and rock slides the walking path to get to the glacier is now in the glacier and the river. Just imagine the volume of water you get running through your gutters when it rains at home during a storm and multiply that a few million times.

This is the setup picture for my shot of the clock w/ zoom blur.

I forgot to write it on the image but if you couldn't tell the 430EX at the top is being held by a Bogen SuperClamp (another item I bought after the recomendation from Mr. Strobist)

On my journey in 1988 I had the idea of the man behind the wheel for my shots. To bad I could not get more of those fellows in front of their rig. Since no truck on the road should be moving without a driver.... Thats like an artist without a stage.

This driver I asked to pose for the picture. I knocked on the door when he was drinking a cup of coffee. – And it was dam freezing cold outside. You can tell from the expression on his face He was not convinced of what he did. Nevertheless I liked the look of the England trucks with their corporate idendity adn wanted to get this photo.

When Ansel Adams photographed Moonrise, Hernandez, a great deal was made that he took the shot with one 8x10 sheet and no light meter.

The drama of the moment is typical of A.A.'s talent for self-promotion.

The night-time exposure of Golden Dawn was relatively simple. I had my light meter ready, having planned the shot. The light at dawn was changing rapidly, so after the reading I had to act fast, taking two shots on 4x5 film, flipping the holder and changing my time exposure. The exposure was about 8 to 12 seconds on Vericolor film . . .

Vericolor is 160 ASA compared to A.A.'s Ansco 64. Grain starts to become noticeable in 11x14 prints . . . A.A. with 64 ASA, slow development, and film with 4 times the area had me beat.

HOW ANSEL ADAMS PROBABLY SHOT MOONRISE, HERNANDEZ

The moon is lit by the sun, just as the earth is on a sunny day. Therefore, he used the 'Sunny 16' rule. The film speed as the shutter speed and f-16.

He did have to make some alterations. Using the Zone System; he increased the shutter speed two stops putting the moon in a very bright grey, but not white. Thus, the detail of the moon was preserved.

He then added more exposure for a Wratten G filter. This is an orange filter, cutting out UV haze and sharpening clouds . . . standard for landscape work in B&W. For maximum sharpness, he probably chose f-64 on an 8x10 camera.

Now let's do the calculation is real time.

Ansco 64 film w/wratten g orange

1/50th @ f 16 Sunny 16 Rule

1/50th @ f 64 -2 stops to preserve detail of moon

1/20th @ f 32-64 1 1/2 stops for filter

Concerns are recomendations not to shoot the moon longer than 1/15th of a second . . . the moon does move. Also, some advise an additional stop a week out of full moon.

I think you'll find this was A.A.'s exposure . . . another rule he may have used was 'Shoot for the Highlights and let the Shadows Go to Hell.'

This means that if you overexpose the moon, the detail is lost and other parts will be grainy. If you capture the moon, the landscape illuminated by the moon and setting sun can be manipulated by a slow, diluted film development and dodging under the enlarger.

I think the largest print Adams made of Moonrise was 20x24. That enlargement is equal to my 4x5 blown up to 11x14. My standard size is 8x16. On canvas, the prints are 10x20 and 20x40 inches, with no discernable grain and incredible detail.

How did I do that?

I scanned the Vericolor negs before they became too chemically stained and faded altogether. The last step in C-41 processing is a preservative, Formaldahyde I believe. I think this step and the wash were not done well. Even Adams had to re-fix and intensify his negative. They were also grainy, so I used a digital filter called Neat Image. It is very sophisticated.

Because of Neat Image, I can enlarge Golden Dawn to 15 x 7 feet at 150 dpi.

Ansel Adams burned in the sky to get it black, and dodged the clouds to keep them in clear perspective.

I used Levels in Photoshop to take the sky in the upper left to black. This acted as a grey scale in a color image to adjust the color, as well as the exposure of the sky.

There is also serious mixed lighting. The 'blue' night to the 'gold' dawn combine in the middle mixing into a green flash which I was lucky to catch and didn't notice until I applied levels.

The foreground had to be adjusted seperately to get the color balance to where the vegetation had variation and the New Mexico clay was not too red or magenta.

In the preceding upload, I used an 81A filter in Photoshop to warm the image. This image is without the filtration.

I hope you like the image . . . it is in a few galleries and hopefully one of the versions will sell . . . it is a classic New Mexico image.

I simply like this design of the 70's on those cabovers.

Staff recommends approving the proposed rules to implement federal consistency for hogfish regulations between state and adjacent federal waters. This includes:

Setting a management boundary for Gulf and Atlantic hogfish regulations at 25°09’ North Latitude in the Gulf of Mexico;

Increasing the Gulf hogfish minimum size limit to 14 inches FL and the Atlantic minimum size limit to 16 inches FL;

Increasing the statewide minimum size limit for hogfish import and sale to 14 inches FL;

Decreasing the Atlantic recreational hogfish bag limit to one fish per person; and

Setting the Atlantic recreational hogfish season to be May 1 – Oct. 31.

Staff recommends approving these rules to end overfishing and promote rebuilding of the Keys/East Florida hogfish stock, and to address stakeholder requests in the Gulf.

The proposed rules for hogfish would only be filed for state waters if the federal rule changes are approved by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and implemented by NOAA Fisheries.

If the Commission approves the proposed rule change, the decision would be final and the rules will be filed without further hearing as allowed under the adopting of federal standards provision of section 120.54(6), Florida Statutes.

Staff have evaluated the rules under the standards of 68-1.004, FAC, and found them to be in compliance.

On the side

A photo looking from a side.

Due to a recomendation from my friend Citlaly, I started seeing an Anime series called Kanon.

Its sad, really really sad.

First chapters are interesting, characters start to appear and being developed around the main character, who also doesn't know anything about the, and that makes you want to know what is the connection in the past, and why. So that keeps it interesting.

Then around the middle, sad things begin to happen, one after the other, and so several times a few tears scaped from my eyes.

So if you want to see an interesting but sad anime series, with posibility of crying, see Kanon

Akaroa New Zealand settled by the French

Its not often that I take the time to pass on a link that has inspired me. That being said, I think it might be time for a change.

In my recent and deliberately chosen path of self growth, education, and personal discovery, I happened to stumble upon this site. Imagine condensing 100 of the top books on positive energy, law of attraction, and business wisdom into a concentrated package. Well, Brian Johnson has done an amazing job at just that in his program called "Philosophers Notes"

If your the least bit interested in improving your life by design, this is absolutely worth a peek. Poke around on the site and definitely check out the TV tab for a few short video on what he is creating. There is a lot of free info to check out. I am definitely a fan and student! People helping people.....a great way to live life :)
