In 2000, Larry and Marilyn Vann purchased the vacant building, added a 50,000 square foot expansion and Bird Kingdom was born. The Vanns received a Heritage recognition award for maintaining the architectural stylings of the original building and constructing the new expansion to match. All the original interior features are maintained, flooring, lighting, masonry ect...
Over a two year period the bird collection was acquired, carefully selecting species that would live in harmony with each other (most of the time!). In 2002 Bird Kingdom opened it's doors to the public and has been featured on many television shows and magazines and is considered a must see attraction.
