This receding storm produced a tornado a mile from where I lived. The colors and layers were amazing, and no one photo can quite convey the grandeur. Colors ranged from icy turquoise to intense golds and pinks, and everything was swirling and counter-swirling.
Compared to the day before, now the water level is falling quickly. This is a view from the Reichenbachbrücke downstream towards the Corneliusbrücke and the "Deutsches Museum".

Bank Holiday weekend was wayyy too short for our second visit to the bonnie Cairngorms, so it was with heavy hearts that we started our return journey. And the more the mountains receded, the more my mood sank ... :(
Back to Whitsand Bay in South East Cornwall, which I visited earlier in the year. The tide and wind direction were ideal for this small beach at Portwrinkle. I really enjoy shooting and experimenting with shutter speeds, while the waves break up the beach. Hopefully I will post a couple more images from this day by the sea !!! For this shot I used a 6 stop ND filter + polariser.
Great morning photographing the waves at Portwrinkle beach in Cornwall last March. I locked into this compostion and just kept shooting, as every frame was different. Beautiful day in Cornwall today.......hoping to get out with the camera tomorrow. Have a great weekend.
B&W or color... for me, it works either way, but this seemed best... the forum lies at the south end of the long 850 m (1/2 mi) colonnaded avenue. It's big! 90 m (295 ft) x 80 m (262 ft) and there are what looks like two alters and a fountain within... the whole area is smooth and worn stone paved and there are very nice raised sidewalks on both sides of the ionic (I think) pillars most of which must have been re-erected. Gerasa was heavily damaged by three severe earthquakes in 363, 749 and 1033 CE (which by the way, doesn't make me feel great living just south of here in Amman).
Nevertheless, the structure is a joy to see and sit within and wonder about... Gerasa was an incredibly advanced City in its time for many hundreds of years... once again kudos to the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities... they do great work...
Tanah Lot temple is out of bound to the public, the receding tide reveals the rock bed the temple sits on and allow tourist to get up close.
Tourist like the one above, can only snap picture from outside.
Kuta - Bali - Indonesia
This image was shot around the same time as my last post. I noticed that the receding light on the hills above Rydal Water was providing some great light and shadows, and so I zoomed in tight.
If you look close you can just make out a sheep munching beneath the main tree.

Today I'll post my final set of flood images. If you contrast this photograph with the one I posted several days ago you'll see how the skies have cleared and the water is receding. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/52426855253/in/datepost...
The time has been difficult for many people (mostly in the outlying regions), but gradually things return to normality. Thank you to those who have offered sensitive thoughts about the floods.
There has been no Photoshopping of this image (I don't use PS), so those light rays breaking through the clouds were really there. Perhaps a sign of hope.
This is from Uig in 2017. I visualised something like this the previous year, but the conditions weren't right. 24mm PC-E with tilt to maximise sharpness.
The receding tide at Luskentyre leaves clumps of seaweed that catch on shells leaving some interesting abstract shapes. This one reminded me of the hairstyle of the Incredibles' super villain Syndrome (but I'm probably on my own here!)
I think Ed came better prepared as he had a pair of wellies on and was able to wade out into the water. I had to stand as close as possible to the receding tide in my shoes. We don't get tides around here on the west coast of Sweden and I was amazed at how quickly the water vanished before our eyes. The sun also vanished soon after this behind a bank of clouds. Great evening and a place I'm looking forward to visiting again in the near distant future. Mainly because there looked like some very nice pubs in Bosham but also for a spot of photography.
Unknown Walker in the Dense Morning Fog. Destination...?
Rare, long lasting and dense fog in Oak Park. Very serene, and shrouded in mystery.
As the tide recedes Little Egret move from the nearby lakes to search for food in the pools and along the water's edge at Lepe (closed this week due to storm damage) where they can be seen stirring the water to disturb any small fish or crustacean upon which they swiftly pounce.
Thank you all for your kind responses.
