The peaks and contours you see represent the intensity of the communication and conversations that was taking place from the start of the protest (at 3pm local time) up until its approximate end (at 8pm local time).

VersuS is a spin-off of the ConnectiCity project, and is intended to create tools that enable us to imagine, design and create new tools for the city.

In VersuS the possibility to capture and understand the conversations on social networks is transformed into a tool with infinite uses, whose main goal is to propose new forms of citizenship and human relation, and to also suggest institutions and organizations new methodologies and strategies to innovate their understanding of their cities and to design and enact strategies which leverage new possible sensibilities to the desires, wishes and creativity of people.

These and other topics will be discussed at the Share Festival and at the FabLab Italia during the first week of November 2011, where we will present the “VersuS” project.

Peter Cunningham's #43 RealTime Racing Acura TSX, in the paddock at Mosport.

Grandfathered into the new GTS class from last year's Touring Car class, these Acuras were in tough against very fast opposition - a Corvette and a Lotus Exige S. Cunningham would finish third in GTS in Sunday's race.

SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge, Victoria Day Speedfest weekend. Not sure I quite got the colour balance right on this, nor the angle of the car, but everything else I tried looked worse.

This is a preview of a parametric conceptual design tool for architectural practice that I have been developing at NBBJ. I wanted to develop a system that allows designers to quickly organize and understand complex architectural programmes in three dimensions.

It is an advancement of the traditional bubble diagram; it solves adjacency requirements automatically and suggests planimetric and sectional relationships. The resulting diagrams are not formal solutions; they are simply organizational diagrams with solved adjacencies and accurate required areas. The diagrams are raw materials, meant to be manipulated sculpturally, or even squeezed into a formal container.

Technical Information

The tool was created in the Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino. Custom components, written in VB.NET, read programme data directly from Excel into Grasshopper. The tool uses the Kangaroo engine for realtime spring dynamics simulation.

LUFTHANSA air traffic network simulation

In the flight control tower of the Lufthansa Brand Academy Frankfurt-Seeheim visitors learn about the local and global connections of international air traffic.

A 14 meter wide 180 degree projection lets users dive into the fully navigable, realtime 3D visualization of 16000 daily Lufthansa and Star Alliance flights. The intuitive navigation interface provides 6 degrees of freedom. Additional time and content filters can be activated with extra buttons and sliders. In just a few seconds of flight the user can move from a macro view of a local hub to a global overview of worldwide air traffic routes.

The visual appearance of the data visualization is complimented by a generative, six channel 3D audio system. All flight patterns are linked to spatial sound elements that follow the visual representation through space.

This installation is one of 5 interactive exhibits that WHITEvoid developed and implemented for the Lufthansa Brand Academy.
