A trio of SD40's pulling one of the a.m. northbounds through St. Augustine yesterday morning was a real throwback to the old FEC.
Perhaps an hour after it arrived ( flic.kr/p/2i6KeeG ), 56035 is on the move again away from Washwood Heath yard.
In those days before realtime trains, knowing exactly where a particular train was going to was a challenge - assuming the wagons didn't give it away as they did with my previous transparency ( flic.kr/p/2i8exx9 ).
Since the wagons seen here are not part of the consist that the locomotive arrived with an hour earlier, I conclude this was a Washwood Heath to Immingham or Grimsby working, with the wagons carrying empty steel carriers either from Wolverhampton steel terminal or from the continent via Railfreight Distribution's Connectrail network.
This view also shows the recently added east-facing access into the Dugout sidings. Until sometime in the early 1990s the Dugout sidings were only accessible from the west. The new overbridge and clean ballast suggest this was a recent modification.
I finally managed to record something I've been wanting for a long time to do. To film the aurorae and to show the very quick variations that can be seen "live". Timelapses don't do it justice

Shown on Realtime Trains as a 'Sprinter' DMU, I wasn't expecting the 2C34 14:33 Carlisle to Barrow-in-Furness service to be a class 37 diagram on a Saturday, also being out of touch with routine services on the Cumbrian Coast line these days, but decided to wait for it anyway, given the stunning light after the 'Cumbrian Coast Express' had past in half sunlight. As some kind of compensation, 37401 'Mary Queen of Scots' made an appearance and is seen on the rear of the four-coach formation slowing for the Seascale station stop on 28th January 2017, just as the sun is setting on the horizon out to sea and walkers are enjoying the best part of the day.

Realtime fog is currently possible with rainy weather.
Albizia hassleri, (farinha-seca) with Neoregelia blanchetiana in tree. In the foreground, right, Ficus enormis, from original forest.
Taken with a Nikon Coolpix P950. Despite the moon over 60 degrees above the horizon, atmospheric turbulence was quite high.
Realtime trains flags this as 0001 Doncaster Decoy to Eastleigh. Perhaps the lack of a consist accounted for the 32 minute-early passage!
Here's a catch with the video "from sky to catch to rock" in real time. Afraid she's too quick for me. But it takes about 4s from beginning to dive to already be out the water and on the way... Killing it took ages and the bird moved locations twice .. from one safe rock to another. I didn't video till the bitter end. Of course a tripod would help. Don't have one with me.
Taken at the height of brightness and color. The brilliance was awe inspiring. I uploaded this video to help better show the unique nature of this rainbow.
This is a fine example of a rare twinned of the primary rainbow (most dominate at the center).

Nikon d7000 was set to movie mode at 30 fps (Real-Time). Lighting was tricky as night was falling. I still was successful in capturing many discrete bolts from this 20-minute video.

The trampoline was moving at least 81 MPH during the first second that it was visible. The furthest row of plants is 120 feet from the edge of my house. The trampoline traveled at least another 60 feet before hitting the ground 1.6 seconds from first visibility in the clip.
My next door neighbor who cleaned up the mess (landed on his property), thought that the trampoline weighed about 100 pounds.
