Construction of the current Palacio Real (Royal Palace) began in 1735 and ran through most of the eighteenth century. It was designed in a Baroque and Neo-Classical style.

El Palacio Real de la Granja es un Real Sitio situado en la provincia de Segovia, al norte de la Sierra de Guadarrama.
Fue construido por mandato del monarca Felipe V de Borbón a imitación de Versalles, como residencia de verano. Las obras comenzaron en 1721 con planos del arquitecto Teodoro de Ardemans, mientras que los jardines fueron diseñados por Esteban Boutelou y el escultor Renato Carlier.
En la fachada del palacio destaca la capilla real, donde están enterrados Felipe V y su esposa Isabel de Farnesio, rompiendo la tradición real de ser enterrados en el monasterio del Escorial.
Los jardines son uno de los mejores ejemplos de jardín barroco, ocupando una extensión de 146 hectáreas. Las fuentes están realizadas en plomo pintado imitando el bronce, y aprovechan la pendiente natural del terreno para conseguir presión para que los chorros alcancen hasta los 40 metros de altura, abasteciéndose de un gran estanque situado en la parte más alta y tradicionalmente conocido como "el mar".
El sistema hidráulico empleado actualmente es el original, de 300 años de antigüedad, y el conjunto de 21 fuentes es uno de los mayores de Europa.

We have some beautiful *spring* this year. Two days ago weather took 360 degree turn and from sunny days with freshly growing grass and flowers, became full winter. Over night we got 50cm of snow, so I couldn't even open my house' door in the morning. XD
BUT because of this I had opportunity to take some pictures of this lovely outfit :)
I hope spring is coming back soon :)
In contrast to yesterday's "faux" textile, you can't get more "real" than this. Undyed 100% wool. The ivory, browns, grey ... all the color of the sheep that is shorn.

I'm a big fan of Calypso Cruises, the tour operator to Tortuga Island... well there is some other companies doing the same tour... one of them have a new so called Catamaran (In my opinion.... the Tropics Catamaran concept goes beyond having 2 hulls). Hugh Jackman made an apperance for Comic-Con 2011, outside Petco Park, to promote his upcoming movie, Real Steel.
The library is awesome. I have recently been taking out a lot of books, of which the one I'm holding in this photo, titled 'Real Moments', is about the life and photos of Bob Dylan taken by his personal friend photographer. Pretty cool book, fit the scene well I thought.
Also, I picked this stool out of the trash. The shapes and colors of it are neat. One man's trash is another man's treasure!
