My reading lamp was missing the plastic cover. The kid part of me was thinking I should mess with it, but my adult part stepped in and said "you probably shouldn't mess with an electrical device connected to a giant metal tube that's taking dozens of people whizzing at 450 miles an hour 10,000 feet in the air". It did still work (although I waited until after it landed to test that one).
