Walking in fog often provides a visual representation of my thought process. My brain constantly brings different topics into view, but in the process lets others slide into the periphery. Most of the time they are all still there, competing for my attention, but all in varying degrees. In fog I respond to the overall loss of clarity, but also the nuance that is created by relative distance. It's this layering effect I find most appealing as more distant objects eventually recede into nothingness...exactly the same as my mind reacts.

Walking outdoors this morning felt otherworldly. I love seeing familiar places rendered as ones I'm visiting for the very first time. A rich dichotomy as the serenity of fog is ripped apart by this visceral reaction. In these moments I invariably come up with camera angles that never would have occurred to me in normal circumstances.

I found the little French bulldog in a shop today and couldn't resist. Tofu greeted it with his usual gentleness and curiosity. I doubt that he would reacted that way if the dog was real. :)

I hear that women only want the “tattooed bad boys” Listen up we are waiting and waiting for you to react.

It doesn't matter if you want or are a bad boy. It matters if you know “how” to be while being a good guy.

Sometimes you have to take a woman who wants to be taken by the hair and push her back to the wall and take her in a fit of heated passion.

You cover her flesh with your ravenousness kisses until you feel her squirming. Then you continue to turn up the heat by denying her what she wants most. You let your dominant animistic masculine actions devour, leaving her breathless.

You don't leave her until she is wanting more. We want you to react.

Almost all kiwis reacted with sadness and lots of love and support for the victims of the extreme act of cowardice shooting people in their place of worship. But we won't be terrorised. It is still one of the safest places on earth and thank you all for so many words of support yesterday. Taken while sitting in a coffee shop by a warm salt water pool in our city, with a long large flat white.

Jacamars are reacted to puffbirds and more distantly to barbet and toucans. nsojournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1034/j.160...

From Wiki: The jacamars are a family, Galbulidae, of near passerine birds from tropical South and Central America, extending up to Mexico. The family contains five genera and 18 species. They are closely related to the puffbirds, another Neotropical family, and the two families are often separated into their own order, Galbuliformes, separate from the Piciformes. They are principally birds of low-altitude woodlands and forests, and particularly of forest edge and canopy.

Jacamars are insectivores. They spend most of the day perched (inactive) waiting for flying-by insects or butterflies to snatch in mid air and return to the same spot.

Thank you very much for all your faves and I will react on your given comments as soon as possible

I knew something would happen to Ahsoka at the end of the Clone Wars, I expected her to get assassinated or to be killed in combat but I NEVER expected her to become a sith. I was reading the topics about this on the Star Wars.com forums and I honestly can’t agree with them. They say that that it would be too dark for the kiddes if they kill her off on the show, but I can’t agree because during the Clone Wars we have seen Clones necks being snapped, Clones being impaled with lightsabers, choked to death etc. Another reason I think she turns to the Dark Side is because look at her face, she has cracks on her head, and yellowish/greenish eyes. That is EXACTLY was a Sith has. Now I can pretty much tell that something/someone convinces Ahsoka to learn the ways of the Dark side and she attacks Anakin, fails and dies at the hands of right then and there. Now I don’t know for sure. But telling from the little clip we got from the trailer, that’s what it looks like is going to happen. Why Ahsoka would turn to the Dark Side is beyond me, but as eclipsegrafx said she may find out about Padme and Anakin but I don’t think she would react that horribly. Ahsoka goes through so many battles, and learns so many things about both sides. Now during the Clone Wars Ahsoka seems to understand that the Republic are trying bring peace to the galaxy. Why would she think the Jedi were trying to do different?

Sorry for the long and dramatic description :P btw here is the link to where you can see Ahsoka as a Sith : www.starwars.com/theclonewars/?video=v001162#vid

So feel free to discuss your theories below :)

Oh, one more thing make sure you skip to 1:00 in the video to see what I am talking about.

I decided to repost some Aurora shots I took in Lapland in 2012. I was very unsatisfied with the contrast of the original posts and the "balance" of the colours of the Aurora. Some photos you see posted on line are profundly green which is more about how the Camera sensor reacts rather than what your eyes see. Colours are more muted in reality with less dramatic greens owing to the cones in your eyes (which perceive colours) functioning less in the darkness. When the Aurora is strong it can be quite green, because it is bright, but when it is weaker it is more like the light from a flourescent tube. I prefer to record what I see in my photographs, i.e. reality, rather than what I would like to see. Of course I would love to have a deep green Aurora but it isn't representative of what I saw. The week before and after the period I was in Lapland was spectacular for Aurora....unprecedented, in fact. However when I was there the Kp levels were at 2...or below. A long way to come to be dissappointed. However I was blessed with a Coronal Hole in the Sun...which I had never heard of before this. This allows the solar wind to stream out of the Sun at an incredible rate and the effect is that while all the terrestrial monitors will tell you the levels are low and there are no CME's you get a constant flow of strong Solar wind....which is what I got. Not a bad way to celebrate your 50th Birthday ! I was even lucky enough to capture a metorite in this photo.

What was that in the periphery? You turn and there's nothing... but you're sure something was there... a slight displacement of air, the softest rustle...

Your hairs stand, goosebumps rise... what is that chill that just passed through...

There is the sudden urge to run, but where? And from what?

Bodies are found. Murder without a drop of blood shed because the blood has dried in the veins. Faces drawn taut, their final expressions grimaces of horror.

Best call for the falconers, because skulks are about.

Skulks are intelligent, malevolent little assassins with the distinct ability to atrophy the internal organs of their victims. They can petrify hearts and lungs in moments, and coalesce blood into dry powder even as it flows.

Skulks are quite skilled at stealth and it has proven exceptionally difficult for advanced races, such as humans and even elves, to see them at all. An unidentified quality in the skulk causes them to be obscured in the vision.

Raptors, however, can see skulks quite clearly and always react viscerally, attacking skulks on sight. Skulks apparently cannot exercise their abilities on birds of prey, nor do they fare well in combat against them.

Falcons, hawks, eagles, and especially owls are adept at killing these vile beings. Kestrels have been seen relentlessly attacking skulks ten times their size, and killing the creatures.

I know that dolls, especially big-eyed ones like Blythe dolls can sometimes scare some people to death!

Being a good dolly woman, I put them all in the drawer during my stay in California.

The last thing I wanted to do was haunt the lovely housekeeping ladies at the hotel.

I wonder how they would have reacted to Blythes, say, all lined up on the sofa with orange eyes, though!

Almost certainly this individual died of causes other than an eagle attack, and this is a case of scavenging a meal .

Even in this shot we can see the swan is much bigger, and in my observations Trumpeters do not react to Bald Eagle flyby - even if everything else in a field (ducks, geese& gulls) "put up" and fly away.

Helgoland is a German island in the North Sea. In the past, the island has been part of Denmark and the United Kingdom, but since 1890 it has been German property. It is considerably further away from the coast than the East Frisian Islands. Strangely enough, it is not part of the customs territory of the European Community. On Helgoland, Halunder freesk is spoken, a North Frisian language. The main island, with the recognizable cliff of Trias fur sandstone, which is subdivided into Oberland and Unterland. The small island of Düne is mainly covered with sand and popular with nudists. There is an airport on Düne and there are two bungalow parks. Helgoland is traffic-free: there are only a few cars, and cycling is prohibited. There is a small bus that makes a tour around the island. There are also some electric vehicles that serve as vans. Helgoland can be reached by high-speed catamaran, ferry or by small propeller plane. The island enjoys considerable fame among nature and especially bird lovers because it is an important breeding ground and stopping place for sea birds from the North Sea region and for migratory birds. The Northern Gannet is a seabird living at the coasts of the North Sea. Colonies are mostly located on offshore islands with cliffs, from which the birds can more easily launch into the air. Gannets breed here on the cliffs of Helgoland in the summer. The birds overwinter at sea and are known to follow ships. They dive for fish in a spectacular way and can do that at a speed of 100 km/hour if they drop.

Northern Gannets started breeding on the German island Helgoland about 25 years ago. The colony, nowadays holding about 700 breeding pairs, birds annually die on the nest. Gannets build their nests on steep cliff faces. They used seaweed to construct the nest. Northern gannets exhibit many types of aggressive behavior while they are nesting. Confrontations normally only take place between birds of the same sex. A female will not react if a male approaches a nest but it will react fiercely if another female approaches. The fights between males occupying nests for the first time are particularly intense. Such fights can last for up to two hours and may lead to serious injuries. Birds lunge at each other and lock bills, wrestling for extended periods while neighbors peck at them. In addition to all confrontations, there are couples who take care of each other. Nice to experience and capture their mating dance and couple bonding. A unique pairing ritual in which the head and neck are held upright while loud, loud calls are made. This behavior helps to create a long-term bond between mating partners. Photo taken during the breeding season at the Breithorn rock.
