Often older farm couples who have retired from active farming like to stay in their home rather than moving into town. They loved the sense of peace and quietness they enjoyed throughout the years. Rather than wishing for something else, they now have peaceful recollections of a life raising children and tilling the land.

Eight years ago on the weekend of October 10th & 11th my good friend Nikos and I drove through the night to Kentucky in hopes of catching TTI running. It turned into an epic weekend of friends, beer and dash 7's. It would be the only time I ever saw the TTI but its a weekend Ill never forget.
TTI B36-7's thunder through Millersburg, KY with a loaded coal train bound for river transport at Maysville along the Ohio River.

RECOLLECTION & TRANSFORMATION OF MEMORY

By incorporating literal and abstract images, based on source pictures of the current site, an interactive experience is provided for the viewer. The sculpture is a combination of abstract coloured porcelain tiles, reflected and transformed by a stainless-steel pillar acting like a mirror — into a recognizable image of the site before the modernization process. This perspective technique in visual arts is called anamorphosis. The granite walls contain a series of etched literal and abstract images, as well as text placed strategically on the sculpture and wall elements. The text reinforces the notion of public voice and the purpose of the site (Speaker’s Corner) through repeating phrases: “SPEAKING PUBLIC SPEAKING and SPEAK UP and SPEAK OUT”.

Just another simple oldie from this chase I have no recollection of. I'm honestly not even sure of the train symbol or what this crew was doing, but for whatever reason this pair of SD70MACs (4324 and 4326 from the 2004 and 2007 orders respectively) was headed back light engine to Anchorage. Perhaps this was a work train crew or a 125N or 120N out of Whittier or maybe even a 110N from Seward....I guess it's just lost to history.
But whatever the reason the duo sure look pretty in the warm afternoon light as they drift over the icy blue water of Glacier Creek on the 80 ft thru girder bridge at MP 74.5. Nine miles distant at the head of the valley rises 6450 ft Goat Mountain in the Chugach Range. The pair are so sparkling clean they look like they just came out of the box from Athearn and are getting a test run on the layout!
