One of the opportunists at the Falcon diner. These ravens make the daily rounds, hoping to get a piece of the pigeon action.

This is Sculpture 62 by the artist Ayad Alaqaragholli, from Iraq.
The artist says: "Ravens appear in myth and scripture worldwide, even as the first bird mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, where they symbolise divine care and grace. And the raven , of-course, was a pivotal character in Edgar Allan Poe's mysterious poem 'The Raven' (1845). The chair represents the place of human dwelling, a universal place of where life is lived."
Here at Bondi, the raven is accompanied by Miguel from Brazil.

Raven Crag is such a popular beauty spot, hopefully it will remain so for a long time to come.. although it narrowly avoided disaster earlier this year when thoughtless campers lit a fire on the crag overlooking Thirlmere. Luckily it was dealt with in time by the fire service before too many trees were burnt.

It looks as if this raven is chewing the photographer out big time, but in reality, it was calling out to another raven close by that was interested in it's food. The raven is capable of spending the long cold winters in Alaska. One can see ravens at -50f searching for food and living their normal life.
We don't get too many ravens in the area I live in, mostly crows. This one didn't look like the usual crow so I grabbed my trusty sidekick the Nikon P1000 which I use a lot as a telescope and then I'm stuck with that as my camera (in the moment). Anyway, I thought this raven was beautiful, the way he moved, preened and reflected the light. Raven.

The clock struck midnight
And through my sleeping
I heard a tapping at my door
I looked but nothing
Lay in the darkness
And so I turned inside once more
To my amazement
There stood a raven
Whose shadow hung above my door
Then through the silence
It spoke the one word
That I shall hear for evermore
Nevermore
Thus quoth the raven, nevermore
And still the raven remains in my room
No matter how much I implore
No words can soothe him
No prayer remove him
And I must hear for evermore
Quoth the raven, nevermore
Thus quoth the raven, nevermore
Quoth the raven, nevermore
Thus quoth the raven, nevermore
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore, never
Nevermore, nevermore, never
Nevermore, nevermore, never
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore, never
Nevermore, nevermore, never
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore
Common Raven looking for the scraps of food we sometimes throw out for them. This was taken from my kitchen window. Magnificent bird!
Well, it wasn't midnight and dreary, I was pondering but not weak or weary, so seeing this Raven on a sunny day, means happness and good things, come my way.

We found this raven nest on the canyon wall of a waterfall in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Try as I might, this was the only shooting gap I could find and the one stick did block a bit of the shy one in back. My first raven nest.
Can't believe my luck as this beautiful creature landed on a fence post near to where we were talking with friends and stayed just long enough for me to snap two photos - HFF!
A wonderful sandstone natural arch overlooking the Ohio River Valley near Portsmouth, Ohio. Hills of Kentucky in background.
Common ravens (Corvus corax) are one of the most ubiquitous birds on Earth, inhabiting nearly all of the northern hemisphere.
As one of the most clever members of the clever order of corvids, ravens are renown for their intelligence in a number of different cultures. The Navajo/ Diné include them in numerous legends as tricksters. Many of their stories involve both ravens and coyotes, with ravens often getting the best of coyotes, out "clevering" them. The dark color of ravens is thought to represent magic and transformation. Ravens are often bearers of spiritual messages.
This raven was keeping track on all 2 visitors to the Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge, with the headquarter building behind it.
