Mount Baldo range 20201214

Mount Baldo is characterized by a geographical identity, a ridge parallel to Lake Garda, which stretches for 40 kilometers (25 miles), between the lake to the west and Val d'Adige to the east, and on the south it is bounded by plain Caprino and North Valley Loppio.

Mount Baldo reaches its maximum elevation of 2,218 m with the Cima Valdritta, and its minimum elevation of 65 m on Lake Garda. Other prominent peaks in the range are Monte Altissimo di Nago (2,079 m), Cima del Longino (2,180 m), Cima delle Pozzette (2,132 m) and Punta Telegrafo (2,200 m).

Lydd Ranges is a military firing range south of Lydd, in Kent, England, extending as far as the south coast.

It has been used for military training for over 150 years and is part of the Dungeness, Romney Marsh and Rye Bay Site of Special Scientific Interest.Because the range is used for live firing, access is sometimes restricted - red flags are flown during these times, and access is prohibited along the foreshore and Galloways Road. Also, red lights are shown at restricted times if there is poor weather. The danger area extends out to sea, and mariners sailing to and from Rye Harbour must pass south of the Stephenson Shoal to avoid it. Firing occurs about 300 days a year. When firing is not taking place, it may be possible to walk along a designated path along the shore.

Laurentian Mountain range straddles the provinces of Quebec and Ontario in Eastern Canada. The range is dotted with countless mountain lakes, and numerous small but picturesque villages and towns, whose beauty truly emerges in autumn.

Given this week's Arctic blast that extended down to south Texas, I cannot imagine how people survive the winters in these mountains. Even so, I wouldn't mind investing in a holiday home just to visit in the fall.

I was unfortunate to miss the peak colors, but nevertheless there were some pockets left that made the trip worthwhile. Something to look forward to next season.

You may notice that this green iguana is not in fact green! She came to The Living Rainforest after being a pet for a number of years. It is common in the pet trade to selectively breed individuals with more desirable traits, and artificially create different colour morphs. This can cause issues within the captive population of the species, as it often involves in-breeding.

The green iguana (Iguana iguana), also known as the American iguana or the common green iguana, is a large, arboreal, mostly herbivorous species of lizard of the genus Iguana. Usually, this animal is simply called the iguana. The green iguana ranges over a large geographic area; it is native from southern Brazil and Paraguay as far north as Mexico, and has been introduced from South America to Puerto Rico and is very common throughout the island, where it is colloquially known as gallina de palo ("bamboo chicken" or "chicken of the tree") and considered an invasive species; in the United States, feral populations also exist in South Florida (including the Florida Keys), Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Green iguanas have also successfully colonised the island of Anguilla, arriving on the island in 1995 after rafting across the Caribbean from Guadeloupe, where they were introduced.

A herbivore, it has adapted significantly with regard to locomotion and osmoregulation (the maintenance of constant osmotic pressure in the fluids of an organism by the control of water and salt concentrations) as a result of its diet. It grows to 1.5 m in length from head to tail, although a few specimens have grown more than 2 m with bodyweights upward of 9.1 kg.

This animal is a resident of The Living Rainforest which is an indoor greenhouse tropical rainforest that is located in Hampstead Norreys in Berkshire, England. It is an ecological centre, educational centre and visitor attraction consisting of three glasshouses, operated and run by the Trust for Sustainable Living. The glasshouses are named Amazonica, Lowlands and Small Islands respectively.

The Living Rainforest has been accredited by the Council for Learning Outside of the Classroom and awarded the LOtC Quality Badge. Each year around 25,000 children visit the Living Rainforest as part of their school's curriculum. It is open 7-days a week from 09:30 to 16:00.

"Gainger Bros Garage was a landmark in the Main Street of Beeac for many years. The business was opened in 1917 by Arthur Gainger and his brother Les.

Arthur ran the business in Beeac and Les was in charge in Colac.

When the business first started, Gaingers sold push bikes, Harley Davidson and Triumph motor bikes and Dort Motor cars. They later sold Fargo utes and De Soto cars. In time they had a very successful Austin car dealership. The cars sold ranged from the little Austin A30 to the Austin Sheerline and the luxurious top of the range Sheerline Princess. They also sold a range of utes and trucks as well as the sporty Austin Healey.

Gainger Bros was probably best known throughout the Beeac and Colac districts for their bus service. The first buses were models of Rio, Federal and the Diamond T.

Later, Austin and Bedford buses were used. They transported children to Colac High and Alvie Consolidated Schools as well as workers and passengers to Colac."
