The Blue Tiger (Tirumala limniace) is a butterfly found in India that belongs to the Crows and Tigers, that is, the Danaid group of the Nymphalidae family. This butterfly shows gregarious migratory behaviour in southern India. Upperside of the wings is black, with bluish-white semi- hyaline spots and streaks. In the underside, basal two-thirds of fore wing is dusky black, the apex and hind wing olive-brown; the spots and streaks much as on the upperside.
I was on a boat when I spotted this beautiful bird. She was resting on top of a tree and it looks like she was waiting for someone. Sky was also kind to me providing thick blue background.
Personally, I liked this frame lot. Hope you guys also like this. Let me know what you think about this one.
This looks good in lightbox. Thanks for your visit. Have a great day!

Last week I had visited Ranganthittu bird sanctuary. This is an awesome place for bird lovers (of two winged type :)). The birds here are so used to humans that you can get close enough and get some frame filling shots.

A pair of Spot-billed Pelican Juveniles facing opposite direction at Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary, Mandya District, Karnataka, India
This butterfly was captured on Crotolaria longipes plant at Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary, near Shrirangapattanam, Karnataka, India. It is found everywhere in India right up into the mountains till 8000 feet. Occasionally it swarms in the low, wet, jungles of South India due to the abundance of its food plants. On hot days large numbers of these butterflies can be seen mud-puddling on wet sand. This butterfly also gathers on damaged parts of plants such as Crotalaria and Heliotropium to forage for chemicals precursors to produce pheromones.
Pelicans are colonial water birds known for the large, naked pouch under their bills that they use as nets to scoop fish. There are seven known species of pelicans throughout the world: dalmatian, pink-backed, brown, Australian, great white, American white and spot-billed. A group of pelicans is known as a pod. - from EHOW
I'm assuming this is a group of spot-billed, correct me if I'm wrong!

This was at Ranganthittu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranganthittu_Bird_Sanctuary). The swallows build their nests a little above the river water hanging from rocks. After the breeding season, when the nests are long given up, the river water rises and washes away these nests. The swallows return to rebuild the nests again.

A painted Stork at Ranganathittu flying with a stick to probably complete its under construction nest!
These are Indian migratory birds placed in the 'near threatened' Red List Category by the International Union for Conservation of Nature
This large stork has a heavy yellow bill with a down-curved tip that gives it a resemblance to an ibis. The head of the adult is bare and orange or reddish in colour. The long tertials are tipped in bright pink and at rest they extend over the back and rump. There is a distinctive black breast band with white scaly markings. - WIKI

The Eurasian Spoonbill Stork is almost unmistakable in most of its range. The breeding bird is all white except for its dark legs, black bill with a yellow tip, and a yellow breast patch like a pelican. It has a crest in the breeding season. Non-breeders lack the crest and breast patch, and immature birds have a pale bill and black tips to the primary flight feathers. Unlike herons, spoonbills fly with their necks outstretched.
