Ramadan is fasting from dawn to sunset. The pre-dawn meal before the fast is called the suhoor, while the meal at sunset that breaks the fast is the iftar.I had captured this image in Bangalore after sunset when people come to break their fast

Pray for the souls who haven’t made it to this upcoming Ramadan.

Pray for those who won’t make it to or through Ramadan.

Pray for your own soul to make it through Ramadan.

Star (Tara) Mosque

Star Mosque (Bengali: তারা মসজিদ; also known as Tara Masjid), is a mosque located in Armanitola area, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The mosque has ornate designs and is decorated with motifs of blue stars. It was built in the first half of the 19th century by Mirza Golam Pir (Mirza Ahmed Jan).

Built in the Mughal style by Mirza Ghulam in the late 18th century, this mosque was originally a simple rectangular mosque, measuring 33' x 11' with three doorways on the east façade (main façade) and one on the north wall and another on the south wall. Three domes crowned the mosque, the central one being the larger. Towers accented the corners and the façades displayed plastered panel decoration.

The Night of Power, The Night of Destiny.

For those who don't really know, Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and sexual activities from dawn until sunset. Fasting is intended to teach Muslims about patience, humility, and spirituality. It is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of Allah and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

Okay, this one took about 24 hours, both shoot and PP, doesn't include rest and sleep :). I and the trigger had a World War.. again. I think I'm over it. I need to replace it with the PC Cords soon :(. I planned this shoot a month ago, and really got encouraged when I finally found the invitation for an Art Exhibition on the web last week, themed "Ramadhan". Just to give them the best I could, here it is. The Exhibition is gonna take place in the Middle of Ramadhan, in a few Malls here.

Note: I notice on some monitors this image appears to be a little darker.

In a couple of days time the holy month of Ramadan starts!!

Every year Muslims from all over the world and from all ethnic and economic backgrounds begin fasting from dawn to sunset every day during a most blessed month in the Islamic tradition, known as Ramadan.

One hadith qudsi, best explains the transformation that takes place in an individual through good acts, which in part are inspired by fasting. “And the most beloved thing with which My servant comes nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My servant keeps on coming closer to Me through performing extra righteous deeds till I love him. When I love him, I become the hearing with which he hears, seeing with which he sees, hands with he acts, and legs with which he walks; and if he asks of Me, I give him, and if he asks My protection, I protect him.”

Ramadan enables Muslims just to do that…to get closer to Him!!

Wishing all my Flickr friends Ramadan Mubarak!!
