Nothing more fulfilling, relaxing, rejuvenating and humbling than being in the mountains !

This is at the Himalayan town of Manali.

We friends, went to this valley for some adventure sports, but sadly the rain gods had their own games to play !

But nonetheless, the rains always add to the beauty of any time and place and these were the mountains :)

Shortly after the fallen rains stop and the air smells so clean many of us that don’t mind getting wet will show up to capture nature’s riches moments. Thanks for viewing my work. Stay safe and be kind to everyone. Greet a stranger with a smile today.

“Every year, I'm shocked at the abundance of growth, life, and wholeness that seem to happen in a matter of weeks. Half the year we live in Eden, the other half on Mars.”

Thanks so much for the generous comments and faves on this image... I am dumbstruck! ;)

What started out as a very overcast day evolved into a light sprinkle of drizzle followed by a sudden burst of showery downpour; and then came the spectacular late afternoon low sun, blue sky and feathery fleece-like clouds. What a feast for the eyes and soul.

Ps. imagine the sound of tyres driving over wet tarmac; the crows squawking and circling for worms and the sound of birds tweeting between the noise of passing traffic.

Due to the unseasonal rains this year for the past few months, the wetlands had developed a large area of reeds - almost 3-4 times bigger than what it was last year. That meant a lot more bitterns and Swamphens.

While I was walking on the road next to a large reed bed, looking for Yellow Bitterns, sighted 4-5 Cinnamon bitters nesting there. This bird flew right to nearby reeds and landed there briefly giving me this lovely shot and flew away to a far away larger reed area. Named after the rich cinnamon color of the body, this is a resident bird in India, but migratory for short distances within the country though. They are also found outside of India.

Its preferred habitat is reed beds on the edges of shallow lakes, wet rice / paddy fields, swamps and marshy areas surrounded by reeds.

Thank you so much for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

I always love how the world looks after the rain... this must be a good deal after the rain as there is not one drop to be seen... lol oh well..

Heavy rain the day before we arrived left Cataract Falls with a lot of water! It sure was different than my first visit here in 2014: www.flickr.com/photos/123895834@N08/15123725013/in/album-...

After it rains

============

Thank you for your visit and kind comments!.

It is just one rainy summer here....

Off the Blue Ridge Parkway around Ashville

Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station dominates most viewpoints of Old Sawley (Long Eaton) and its surrounding landscapes.

After the heavy rains of mid-February two swans settled on the flooded farmland. I was attracted to the juxtaposition of nature and the industrial dominance of the cooling towers and the chimney (if you look closely to the base of the cooling towers and behind the foliage, you can see two trains passing in opposite directions) – also, the way that the natural light has split the composition in two horizontally with the sunlight bathing the (ugly[?]) manmade construction in warm light, and the cold muted hues of the shade depriving the beauty of nature (the swans) of their moment. It somehow feels like a betrayal.

From the window... summer rains!

Even when it rains you may get an opportunity to get a street shot that raises questions, Not as good as I had liked but thats my luck lately! Have FUN folk!

A red Spotted newt on a rock after the rains in a lovely forest. Very lucky to have spotted this guy as my daughters and I explored the flora of Terra Cotta - and battled the blood suckers who were also out in full force!

June-September, the mountains I see from my window play hide and seek through the clouds. The clouds are often seen making a low descent and sometimes you can see eagles soaring above them.

View with storms around at Canyonlands National Park. Liked taking into monochrome.

Happy Sliders Sunday

It was a brief relief to have a whole day of rain. I miss rainy days...
