Rails dropped just north of Moreton-in-Marsh station on Sunday, January 15, 2012, ahead of track renewal work through the station during a closure of the line between Charlbury and Evesham in a fortnight's time.
Had this idea when on holidays in Oslo, that rails might come out with a graphic look after post-processing.
The C&PRR is building its own line between Princes Risborough and Thame Junction to avoid dependence on Network Rail's Thame Branch Siding. Picking up the alignment of the old Watlington line (which merely parted company farther along with the line to Thame as opposed to diverging via a physical junction), the P-Way gang have made good progress in recent weeks in pushing the railhead towards Chinnor, using redundant materials donated by Network Rail.

The concern I have with this picture is the red stuff in between the rails about two thirds of the way up the picture... I didn't notice it at the time, but I saw it while I was processing the picture.

In between trains you tend to look for other photographic subjects. Quite often,what seemed a great idea at the time later turns out not to be. Still,I quite like this image.

The rails are in an old tunnel that connected a mine on the west side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to Westcliffe in the Wet Mountain Valley.
Does anyone know the name of this mine or tunnel?

A 2 foot gauge horse-drawn tramway, closed in 1942, but the rails are still there!
