A new mine opening up near Humboldt, MI has resulted in a former right-of-way that had been turned into an ATV/snowmobile trail to be reverted back to a rail line! Crews have installed the county road FA crossing (I'm standing on), and some of the new re-construction has been completed (looking north). Yes, that's lake-effect snow on the ground in late October.
Pausing to copy instructions, O489 brings a brief flash of color to the Oshkosh 'yard'. This would be the final winter the former CNW bridge (background left) would see.
These are live tracks, but they're at the Point of Rocks MARC station, and this was a cross-over point for foot traffic. I looked both ways and shot quickly.
