Often some slices of conversations with friends, family and people I meet keep spinning around in my head. And every now and then these daily conversations affect the next photograph just a little bit more.
I have been thinking on how certain journeys in life are, to a certain extend, the prologue to the present.
That many aspects of the “now, can often be retraced to specific moments of making decisions of all kinds and with regards to many subjects.
A bit as in traveling; I am not referring to the trivial pursuit kind of travels, where the adventure of the journey becomes an end in itself rather than a discovery of unanticipated surprises. To me the unexpected travel is not about putting yourself in the random mood, just sending you off completely unprepared on unpredictable paths.
But sometimes I feel like being dropped at crossroads unexpectedly, realizing that some of the most impactful or intimate moments of bliss would never happen, without making choices to turn left or to turn right.
Is it so that by choosing a direction the impact of consequences can be recalled later, in such a way that I’ll be able to point it out precisely…
I kind of wonder about all those trails never taken or doors just closing in front of me, a fraction too late, because I was hesitating.
There remain still that many rails untraveled, stations undiscovered and platforms deserted. And for now it feels as if I find myself in an empty station and yet I can hear the whistle blow …
Amazing the things these guys can do on skateboards. When they fall it is equally amazing they get back up.

Scavenge challenge : 7. Rails of any sort may be used for this assignment (fence, train, guard, hand, etc.)
Once I reached Stevens Point any semblance of decent morning light was gone. Harsh mid-day July sun was firmly in charge, so I got a little lunch and leisurely made my way east with plenty of sidetracks to look around areas I'd previously ignored. There is some interesting stuff to see at Waupaca so I made my way across town to check it out. They have some neat equipment on display around the depot. I was a little early to see the inside but grabbed a photo of this nice DM&IR caboose on display on the south side of the tracks next to the freight house. July 20, 2024.

The old WCF&N rail line to Cedar Rapids still has rails in place at the Shaulis Rd crossing in rural Waterloo, Iowa After the WCF&N ended service, the Waterloo area tracks became the Waterloo RR. I'm not sure if the line to CR was Waterloo RR or was taken over completely by the Illinois Central. I believe the last train on this line was at the very latest in the early 1980s After rail service ended it became the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.
"Well I look over yonder across the plain
The big drive wheels are poundin' along the ground
Gonna get on board and I'll be homeward bound
Now I ain't had a home cooked meal
And lord I need one now
And the big steel rail gonna carry me
Home to the one I love."

Let's call it a day for the time being, my friends!! I have closed down the comment box for uploads henceforward. I don't wanna be rude and unfair - receiving comments but not returning any. I don't know when I am gonna reopen the comment box; only time knows, I guess!

Looking 'inside' a photograph, I always try to unravel the secret of the presented being, all the joy and sorrows, and first of all mysterious human fate.
