We have had many interesting clouds and potential storms roll through our area this past week, but hardly a drop of much needed rain. These radiating clouds mirror the lines happening on the land and in the water. I hope we get a really good rain soon.

Captured mid-motion, this dancer radiates the full energy and cultural richness of the Tropical Carnival in Paris. Dressed in a striking black costume adorned with vivid colors — bright feathers, shimmering sequins, and glowing fabrics — she lights up the street with her rhythmic moves and radiant smile. Every detail of her outfit pays tribute to Caribbean traditions, blending elegance, cultural pride, and festive exuberance. A true explosion of color and emotion in the heart of Paris.

Radiated Tortoises can be very long lived with recorded lifespans of up to 188 years old with an average lifespan of 32.8 years. They come from Southern and South Western Madagascar

It's been a busy week this week and any spare time I had was spent with my eldest who went back to Univeristy this weekend. So posting an older shot today.

I really appreciate all your comments and favourites as always.

An image from 2017. Challenging conditions with strong winds up on the hill. The plus side was a great bit of cloud sweeping through to give me what I needed for this long exposure. there was also a bit of hail coming down during the exposure, and a few droplets ended up on the filter, that meant I needed some time to clean up the image. Once cleaned up, a bit of harsh processing to give me the finish I wanted. Another two versions to come ... one straight mono, and one toned ... couldn't make my mind up. I'll let you judge.

I dug this up out of my archives, looking for vertical images with room at the top and bottom to serve as a magazine cover photo. I did this in response to Outdoor Photographer Magazine's call for potential cover photos which ended yesterday:

Dropping by there and giving it a vote, comment, like or share might improve my odds, thanks!

The next three images in my photostream were entered as well!

The two GEs on the point of this westbound oil empty, a C44ACM and an ES44AC, are indifferent to summer heat radiating off the ground as the train carries a long string of tank cars. The cars will be loaded at the transload facility in Wash, UT, just a few miles east of the town of Price.

Berlin-Schöneweide depot on the evening of 28th September 2007, during an event to mark 15 years since the end of steam traction there, with a line-up of DR freight 2-10-0s 52 8047, 52 1360, 52 6666, 52 8029, 52 8079, 52 8075 and just visible through the turntable cabin 52 8017. An important motive power depot in Berlin, its final upgraded facility boasted 20 roads, radiating from a 23-metre turntable. During its latter years, in the era of the Berlin wall from 1961, it was an important depot for providing locomotives for freight and transfer traffic to the West Berlin yards, such as at Berlin-Grünewald, as well as locomotives for secondary passenger work. To mark the farewell to DR steam at the depot, several 'Rekolok' Class '52.80s' were gathered on shed there for a send-off. This event in 2007 was the 15-year anniversary of that event, and several 'Rekolok' Class '52.80s', as well as other 2-10-0s and the popular Pacific 03 1010, were assembled with the home fleet, and others arriving from locations from around the former GDR, several under their own steam and remaining so when assembled around the turntable, recreating that magical atmosphere of a steam running shed at night.

I come from just the other side of nowhere

To this big time lonesome town

They got a lot of ice and snow here

Half as cold as all the people I've found

Every way I try to go here seems to bring me down

I've seen about enough to know where I belong

I've got a mind to see the headlights shining

On that old white line between my heart and home

Sick of spendin' Sundays wishing they were Mondays

Sittin' in a park alone . .

Here you can see inside of the pitcher plant flower to the flat, green disc inside. I believe the pollinators must get behind that to do the job. Hope none fall into those deadly pitchers below.
