Route 66 nostalgia
A beautiful 57 Chevy along side route 66 (1 of 3)
Route 66 November 11, 1926-June 27, 1985
This is one of the gorgeous views you have when doing the 'Route du Vignoble' . It's an extremely long walk up to 90 kilometers. We just did a one day walk though taking us about 5 hours and 15 km alongide a magnificent valley.
Whenever I cross over route 66 at the biker church campgrounds and look east this is what I see. I finally got out of the car today and took a picture of it.
Three Providence & Worcester B39-8Es lead CT-1 south towards Cedar Hill yard, at the route 150 crossing (MP-9.42) in Wallingford.

This is the iconic Roy's neon sign in Amboy, CA, along historic Route 66. Illuminated during the exposure by a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device. After two long years, my night photography friends and I got together for an eight-night trip to Nevada and California. This was a 1856-mile night photography safari with Tim Little, Mike Cooper, and George Loo, and George the monkey. This is in an upcoming book about abandoned Route 66 at night that will be due out in the spring. Thank you.

Getting off Route 37 in Novato on Harbor Drive toward Black Point and the Black Point Boat Launch, the bridge that carries Route 37 over the Petaluma River came into view with the light hitting it just right on an otherwise stormy afternoon.
I'd wanted to drive across this mountain pass in Sept 2016, but on the day it was planned there had been early snow overnight on the higher ground, so I had to postpone. On my visit in early August I got perfect dusk light and conditions for the drive.
With the Feather River Route closed because of a derailment and heavy snow causing traffic restrictions along Donner Pass, Dispatcher 9 was facing a serious challenge. Several westbound trains were stacked up along the #2 track, impeded by a stopped eastbound grain train at East Truckee.
All of these westbounds would have to wait until a fleet of eastbound trains cleared the Big Hole at Norden. Due to heavy snow accumulations, trains with auto rack cars were required to take the #1 track between Shed 10 and Norden.
Union Pacific 4173 was leading the fleet as it dragged a Chicago-bound auto train passed the MNPFR at East Truckee. The remnants of an overnight storm shrouded the snowcapped peaks of Donner Pass making for a picture-perfect morning in the High Sierras.

In smoky, moody conditions. Taken back in September on my way back to Seattle from Spokane somewhere between Wilbur & Grand Coulee
NR30 and NR15 guide 6KB8 towards Acacia Ridge. This was one of the final Great Southern services of the 2023/24 season and was affected by flood-related track works down south, leading to a morning arrival within QLD. The luxury train ran an altered route through NSW to bypass these track works, offering unique off-train experiences for guests and adding an extra 15 hours to the train's total travel time. The Great Southern typically arrives on a Sunday afternoon in Acacia Ridge where most spots in QLD are backlit, so the diversion afforded some lovely morning light up here.

Route 1 is the ring road which goes around iceland. Using the road is a classical use of a leading line. I like, how it pulls the eye to the right. It gives an aditionally dynamic to the look into the wide from foreground to background.
