Pheucticus ludovicianus

(Rose-breasted Grosbeak / Degollado)

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is relatively common throughout much of eastern and central North America and lives in primary and secondary deciduous and mixed forest and thickets, as well as alongside humans in parks and gardens. It overwinters in Central and South America.

Same rose, different look!

I added a light vignette which I thought suited it very well.

I have a very similar rose growing in my garden, which seems to given up flowering now so this one is from a bouquet ....

Rose white-red in the botanical garden

Elégante , tendre et délicate !

Photography, of a beautiful rose, which had just bloomed, and illuminated by the afternoon sun.

Fotografía, de una hermosa rosa, que acababa de florecer, e iluminada por el sol de la tarde.

Portland - Washington Park Rose Garden

Catch of the day. Is that a perfect pink, or what?

I'm almost totally ignorant about roses, but this is one of the old-fashioned, hrm, not singlet blooms but not the massive multi-layered hybrids either. This one is growing in the Cambria Historic Society garden, which is intended (I think) to reflect gardening here in the early days. I'd be happy to hear from rose experts!

Thanks for all visits, comments and favs. Have a nice saturday.

Have a wonderful weekend all my Flickr friends!

I have just been to the funeral of my next door neighbour and her sons asked people to take some of the roses.

She had a fall some months ago which meant that she could no longer live on her own. However, she was ninety-seven and had done very well.

A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae, or the flower it bears. There are over three hundred species and tens of thousands of cultivars.

They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles.

WHERE DO YOU GO TO MY LOVELY… Rose

Thank you Peter Sarstedt

A crying Rose.

The best roses come from my own garden, more fragrant and more opulent they are.

Monochromatic? Not really he? All the shades of grey... from a true black to white... as it should be!

A flower image in b&w...

I love the subtle tones, all the varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised without the colour.

Don't you agree?

My latest project, THE MONOCHROMES, THE BOOK can be viewed and purchased now: www.photobox.co.uk/creation/4656305615

Already working on the second one.
