Taken in about 2004 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The city had a number of so-called "gypsy quarters" or tsiganski mahali, in fact slums. This picture was taken in Sofia's largest Roma settlement called Fakulteta. I went there with a friend, an anthropologist, in order to interview some protestant preachers. We ended up in a Roma wedding, with people dancing through the streets. This is one of the last pics I took that day.
