Thanks to Flickr and Otavio i discovered my Foo Fighters picture was used in Rolling Stone Brazil.

It was quite a fortunate story with those shots. I took them for a local magazine, not being paid much at all, but i owned the photos.

Then Foo Fighters management got in touch asking to purchase them for quite good money, so of course i said yes.

They've since run in a number of magazines, inclusing this example and also Rolling Stone Australia. They've joined the official press shots so i really have no idea where they end up unless people tell me.

In support of the last great Stones album, Tattoo You, the boys open their US tour in Philadelphia at JFK Stadium. This was the first time I saw the Stones. Up to this time I was a Beatles freak and didn't really understand why the Stones were called "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World." During this show, specifically during a 9 minute plus version of "Jumpin' Jack Flash," I figured it out. After that show I became a Rolling Stones freak.

If I took the time to read through all three of these books in my collection, then I would probably know most of what there is to know about one of my favourite bands.

At the bottom of the pile is Bill Wyman's 'Rolling With The Stones' . In over 500 pages he charts very accurately their progress up to the Bridges to Babylon tour.

Interestingly, there is mention in the book of the the Bradford concert in 1965 that I went to. I recall that we could not hear the music because of the screaming girls.

The second book is an account by the Mick Jagger, Keith RIchards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Woods. In its 352 pages it takes us up to the Forty Licks Tour and 2003.

Keith RIchard's biography 'Life' is more up to date but gives an account of the band from his perspective. Did you know he once removed one of the strings from his guitar to get a particular type of sound?

One day, when I have read all three and assimilated the information, I could reasonably claim to be an expert on the Stones - that day has yet to come.

PS There are fascinating pictures in all three books and I haven't even looked at all those yet!

Strange similarity. Either RS got inspired from this flower or even flowers are big fans of them :)

Oh by the way, this is a flower in our garden. RS have never been to our garden :)

Images from the launch of Jerry Brandt's memoir, It's a Short Walk From Brooklyn, if You Run. The event took place at 320 West 37 Street in Manhattan. Among the history making musicos attending were Hayden Wayne and Marlowe B. West, who toured with the Glam Rock legend Jobriath.

Brandt has vivid and compelling stories about his journey from working class Brooklyn to William Morris where he headed the music division and represented Sam Cooke, The Beach Boys, Sonny & Cher, The Rolling Stones, Muhammad Ali, Chubby Checker, discovered Carly Simon and brought the Rolling Stones to the United States. He also managed the career of Jobriath, the world's first openly gay rock star.

Contemporaneous with his management work, Brandt also opened, owned, and managed major music venues such as The Electric Circus (1967), the The Ritz, The Palladium and Spo-Dee-O-Dee, a Blues Club. In 1970 he left the Electric Circus and moved to Los Angeles. Where Brandt opened the Paradise Ballroom with Legendary Financier Bernie Cornfeld. In 1992, Brandt opened the Italian restaurant "Italica" at 220 East 46th St. with Ron Delsener, Robin Leach, and Bob Krasnow.
