Racing against the rolling fog bank to get a shot for today. Within minutes it was all whited-out.
The combination of the oilseed rape crop, Devon landscape, rolling fog bank, oak trees and sunset sky seemed to hit all the right points for me.

I didn't get nearly enough time in Yoho, but I did find my way to the Natural Bridge. Amazing colour in the water, incredible land forms. Wish I spent a bit more time at this spot and explored some more compositions, but I did like this one in the end.
I took this picture when a bit of cloud cover rolled in to block the direct sunlight and create a bit more of a flat image.

Looking in the north, I located Mt Ushiro Tateyamas (on the farthest back in the center for Mt Shirouma/Hakuba and others). Lingering snow on them gullies were still visible even fom here. Alas, Mt Kashimayari got hidden in clouds. Now I must say bye-bye to them and hurry my way to Mt Otensho.
A storm rolling in over northwest Washington, DC. Within 5 minutes the same view was all gray with torrential rain.

Another shot from the Memorial weekend trip to Northern CA. I need to concentrate more on this part of California. Not only that my daughter living there.The opportunity for photography and it's photogenic scenes are mind blowing.
Fresh NS SD70ACC rebuild #1816 (formerly SD70 2524) leads the ADESPJ through Tuscola, IL on a chilly but mostly clear day. The train originated in Detroit as NS 171 and earned the UP symbol after turning off the Lafayette District and onto the Villa Grove Sub at Sidney. The train will reportedly get re-blocked at Salem as the ASMSP before continuing to its destination of Spring, TX.
An unexpected treat on a mostly ho-hum day. I was just about to pull the plug and head for home but this train showed up on the heels of the MYCAS just in time to convince me otherwise.

Early morning from Glyder Fawr . The mountains are, ffridd y Bwlch, Moel Penamnen, Moel Bowydd and Arenig fawr.
This is female cheetah Amani in the process of rolling, as she spends some time resting in the late afternoon in the Mara North Conservancy, Kenya.
Amongst the loves of cats is height, and rolling around. Here, Amani has the best of both worlds.
For cheetahs in particular, heights such as this mound provide great vantage points for surveying their surrounding territory for potential threats and prey.
An image from our trip around the lower South Island last year. We spent a few days in the Catlins area exploring, and while driving to Slope Point, (the southernmost part of the South Island) we drove through the townships of Waikawa and Curio Bay. The road skirts around the edge of Waikawa Harbour and Haldane Bay where we experienced this mist lifting off the water. This image is Waikawa Bay. The rolling mist seemed a strange sight on an otherwise fine day. Enjoy.

I struggled with editing this image. I love the composition, but getting the dark and light not too dark and not too light was a challenge; and I still don’t think I’ve got it right. The light parts just aren’t light enough, and I’ve always struggled with getting monochrome images to have nice lighter parts of the image without having just a texture-less white space. Each photograph teaches us a lesson and often that lesson is “you have a lot more to learn.”
Wonderful countryside views,late afternoon warm colours cast before sunset and rolling mist sweeping across the hillside.
Metra 102 pushes an inbound commuter into Chicago Union Station as it meets NS 4703 at Racine Ave in the Chi.
The remote location of Colfred is the scene of a rolling meet on a nice winter day in the desert. Up 9061 is moving west off the Mohawk summit in the distance, and UP 5357 is blasting east at track speed over my left shoulder.
Just another frame of this exceptionally cool rolling meet featuring one of the twenty five relatively new Viewliner II dining cars in the fleet.
