Possibly my favourite composition at Ringing Roger with the foreground rock creating an 'x'. I've stood here many times perfecting the composition. It felt quite precarious yesterday with the frozen rocks.
These are the best conditions I've had. Often, patchy doesn't work, creating too much contrast. But the hard frost decreased the contrast on the rocks.
I couldn't fit the foreground rock into one frame for the previous upload as I only had 24mm equivalent lens. This is good though as going wider reduces the impact of Loose Hill and the Great Ridge.

What a fantastic morning. Frost, fog and a some lovely colour in the clouds at sunrise. Quite rare to to get this much fog in Edale Valley. I've got quite a photos I'm pleased with.

Another from a wonderful sunrise last Saturday.
Voulu par Roger de Hauteville, le dôme de Catane fut réalisé par l'abbé breton bénédictin Ansger1 de Sainte Euphémie2 sur les restes des anciennes Thermes Achilléennes d'époque romaine.
À cause de ces catastrophes, la cathédrale, dans les nombreuses reconstructions et réfections a amalgamé tous les styles architecturaux que se sont superposés au cours des siècles et les récentes restaurations ont montré des considérables portions de ses structures originales.
La façade d'aujourd'hui est l'œuvre la plus majestueuse du baroque de Giovanni Battista Vaccarini qui l'édifia en 1736. Le portail, en bois massif, a été commissionné par l'évêque Pietro Galletti en 1738 et sur lequel ont été sculptés, en sus des armes de princes et de souverains aragonais, les histoires de Sainte Agathe et de la même église.

One of my favourite compositions at Ringing Roger. I always imagine the eroded rock lit by the sun against a dark sky. But happy with the mix of colours from the warm sun on the frosted landscape.
Our outing to Roger's Gardens was slightly different this year. Often my mom and I go together. We split up and visit the Halloween Boutique, take a gazillion photos and then go home and show each other what we had found. This year was slightly different. My dad and my brother Alex joined us at Roger's Gardens but once we got there, we pretty much still split up to take photos. As we were leaving at the end of the outing, my mom pointed to this pot with the little dried plants in it and asked if I had seen it yet. It was the very first photo I took that day.
It's always so interesting out of a huge nursery/garden center with different boutiques and rooms and displays indoors and outdoors, how often something will catch both my and my mom's attention.

i looked for a song related to "roger" but could not find anything so i decided to just put a song i liked. lol
Enjoyed 4 hours of kayaking with Flickr friend Roger Daigle yesterday (pictured here in his Wilderness kayak). The weather was perfect as we paddled around a few islands in the St. Lawrence River near Ingleside, Ontario.

"Hello Roger" - This handsome Blue Dasher decided to follow me up the road and settle next to me for a short chat. He and I discussed a few close-up opportunities.
...Until he wasn't. Jasper performed surgery on Roger Rabbit on Saturday. Roger looked good. Felt good. Then Jasper started Roger's...uh..."physical therapy". 😱 (see first comment) Therapy consisted of vigorous shaking and running through the house. Sometimes dropping Roger for the human's to toss. By Sunday afternoon there was a trail of Roger guts through the house. So Roger is in the infirmary again, waiting on a more competent seamster. Fun while it lasted though. 😜

On my way back, I stopped at Ringing Roger. The light was constantly changing. I liked this one with Grindslow Knoll in shadow and the light on the right helping define the foreground rocks.
The name Ringing Roger. We don't know for sure how it got its name. Most likely, Roger is a corruption of the French word for rock: Rocher. This seems likely as there is also a Roaches in the Peak District, perhaps a corruption of Roches (the French word for plural – rocks). The Ringing part is thought to be description of the sound of the wind up there.

An engineer by training and profession, he started making these artworks when he turned 80 years old.
Roger and his elderly buddy Lodger decided to move in permanently with me uninvited in 2015 after being locally abandoned and it took me 4 years to establish (with help from a tip off) who was responsible and why.
Roger is a special needs cat and is one of the reasons why he was abandoned by his previous so called owner and the reason why he's not featured too much in my flickr photostream in the intervening years.
Roger and Lodger have been completely safe in their new forever home with me since 2015. They don't need to worry about a thing anymore.
