In a valley just below the massive Smolen-Gulf Covered bridge, is the Riverview Covered Bridge in Ashtablua County, Ohio. The bridge was built in 2016 and designed by the same engineers as the Smolen-Gulf bridge and U.I.C. General Contractors were the builders. The bridge crosses the Ashtabula River with a length of 150 feet long and carries only pedestrian traffic. Like the Smolen-Gulf bridge above it, the Riverview bridge uses a Pratt arch design in its construction. The bridge is about a 1/5th mile walk from the parking lot at Indian Trails Park.

Massive Art Deco building, built in 1929 as a Montgomery Ward catalog warehouse and store. Ward's was located here until the 1970s. In the early 1980s the building was sold to a developer; over the years that followed the exterior was restored to its original glory and inside was converted into primarily office space. This swinging bridge crosses the North Fork of the Holston River at Riverview Church. I like the big sycamore on the river bank.

On a peaceful and wooded hillside overlooking the west bank of the Willamette River sits the sprawling and historic Riverview Cemetery in Portland Oregon. Started in 1882, it is the final resting place for many of Portland's founding families.

I took a bike ride through the cemetery earlier this week and brought along my Crown Graphic 4x5 press camera. This is one of the pictures from that outing.

My father always referred to Riverview Hospital as Essondale. For a short while, he drove a bus escorting patients and employees around the area. One of my memories is of him having a conniption over my sister and I wearing white kneesocks to a family gathering. He insisted on us wearing our everyday ankle socks, much to my mother's disgust. Years later he told me that the female patients wore white kneesocks and that is why he detested them so much.

Riverview is said to be haunted.

Not the worlds best composite but 2nd to last in my spooky series for Halloween.

Riverview was an Asylum that held the mentally unstable. Built in 1913 and closed permanently in 2012 It has been allowed to deteriate until recently where they are restoring and building new a portion of the vast lands that hold it.

For those who celebrate it, Happy Halloween!!!
