This spot maks the location of the famous Long Sault Rapids prior to the inundation in 1958 when the Power Dam at Cornwall was constructed. The original rapid, about 30 feet below, was a formidable force. Although these waters appear calm, there are strong currents and undertow.

It came sooner than expected. Hector took a bad turn and the medications that had been helping to manage his congestive failure stopped working. He was peacefully put to sleep in his peoples' arms. He died comfortable, happy and very much loved.
